Cops (stylized as COPS) is an American television documentary reality legal programming television program that ran for 32 seasons, premiering on the Fox network on March 11, 1989. The series followed city police officers and sheriff's deputies, sometimes backed up by state police or other state agencies, during patrol, calls for service, and other police activities including prostitution and narcotic stings, and occasionally the serving of search/arrest warrants at criminal residences. Some episodes also featured federal agencies. The show assigned television camera crews to accompany them as they performed their duties. Its formula followed the cinéma vérité convention, which does not consist of any narration, scripted dialogue or incidental music/added sound effects, depending entirely on the commentary of the officers and on the actions of the people with whom they come into contact, providing viewers with a fly on the wall point of view. Each episode typically consisted of three self-contained segments which often ended with one or more arrests.
It was one of the longest-running television shows in the United States and, in May 2011, became the longest-running show on Fox (since surpassed by The Simpsons). It became the longest running live action series on Fox, after America's Most Wanted was canceled after 23 years (that show's host, John Walsh, also appeared many times on Cops). In 2013, the program moved to Spike TV, now known as Paramount Network. On September 8, 2007, during the premiere of its 20th season, episodes of Cops began broadcasting in widescreen, though not in high definition.
The show's last new episode aired on May 11, 2020. In June 2020, Paramount Network pulled the show from its schedule in response to George Floyd protests against the murder of George Floyd while in the custody of the Minneapolis, Minnesota Police Department, and announced its cancellation days later. The show remains in production for its international and overseas partners, and began to film anew in Spokane County, Washington with its sheriff's department at the start of October 2020.
Good video dealing with an often overlooked topic...what should your spouse/family say to the police after a defensive shooting. Note that the time to discuss this is BEFORE a shooting happens and not during/after.
Basically the same rules for the shooter apply to the rest of the family... a...
A mom is suing the City of Santa Fe, Texas, after police handcuffed her and held her into a bed of fire ants, her attorney claims.
Taylor Rogers says she was "tortured" by Santa Fe Police Department officers in 2021 when they arrested her after she reportedly tried to make an illegal turn in a...
Enforcement/outlook on brace ruling
Pretty hopeful video I saw today. Obviously, this doesn’t mean every cop will be like this (talking to us WA state folks…), but it at least paints a positive outlook on the future.
Would love to hear any cops’ opinions that are on here.
Witnessed an attempted robbery. Two guys sitting at bus stop. One pulled a knife and other guy fended him off by running away and throwing rocks at him. Paramedics arrived and didn't really do much but better than zero response. I didn't watch close but nobody carted away or anything and didn't...

I had never thought of facing bad guys wearing body armor until I read this. Brings a new concern to me if I am faced with a gravest extreme situation.

Perp had a gun and fired it seems and cop just let Loose right at her own partner and perp! Title of video isn’t correct. News stories say he was armed and pulled on the cops and cops fired back but they seem to be avoiding confirming if cop hit cop.
