How do ya'll keep your knives sharp?

I have 5 wet stones going from 400- 8000 then I use jewelers polish for extra awesome.

1" square of 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper I keep in my wallet.

If I am at home and it is a kitchen knife or other, 6 stones up to 600 grit. If I am in the field, a carbide V.

Just borrow someone else's knife....

As a side note to that thought....
Once at a place I used to work at a co-worker asked me cut an apple of hers for lunch...
I did so...afterwards she asked me : Why do you carry a knife...?

To which you should have replied that you use it to remove the black crusty stuff from under your fingernails but thanks to her you figured out it can be used on apples too.
