The unemployment rate in Spain has hit a brand new all-time record high of 26.2 percent. How much higher can it possibly go? This is already higher than the unemployment rate in the United States ever reached during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Spain has issues galore and how it recovers still escapes me. Europe has issues especially in the PIGS. The degree that will impact the US is still hard to calculate. Unemployment here is 1/3 that of Spain and 60% less than Europe as a whole. In regard, all we have to be is slightly less stupid than their economic leaders.

I have a vision of the old idea that it is not necessary to be faster than the bear, just faster than the rest of the runners.
