That is a great question Koda, I have banged my head repeatedly asking my self that! I cannot even fathom an answer to that! Why would you remain silent about something important? Fear? Fear from what? Why is it the Gun issue is so important to the anti side, and yet no one on THAT side stands up against it? There cannot be that many anti's. For my own part, I know a LOT of very liberals liberals who cannot see the forest for the trees that is the 2nd. No matter who you try to explain or even engage in that convo, they do not feel the 2nd represents the TOTAL rights Guaranteed in that section, or they try the claim that it's a "living document" subject to interpretation to try and make it fit! My favorite claim is no one needs, so we should remove "it" from the 2nd, they just don't get it. It has to be made an ALL or Nothing sort of deal in order to get any one to do something!
It's a living document only in the sense that it can be amended. It means now what the drafters and signers meant it to mean. Nothing more, and nothing less. Historically, it's quite clear that they meant for us to protect the States and the Union from tyranny, which inherently requires the finest arms of the day. "Shall not be infringed" is a pretty bold statement. It's about the strongest statement in the entire document, if I remember. Any politician who denies this is an enemy of the State.

Generally speaking, I think it's a good thing when new folks come into gun ownership. I would hope, perhaps I'm hoping too much, that it would eventually lead to a point where neither major party, Republican or Democrat, would want to touch gun control issues for fear they will incur wrath from their base. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, gun ownership, gun rights, should not be, should never have been, a left/right issue. Unfortunately, the left/Democrat party chose to pick up the flag of gun control and restricting gun rights, and have been running with that for some time. It is an American issue, a basic rights issue, that affects everyone regardless of political affiliation. I strongly believe we should encourage folks that have followed with the left in believing in the lie of gun control, to reconsider that stance and to become gun owners themselves, and to fight for gun rights, rather than encourage gun control. If gun control were to become toxic to the Democrat party, and perhaps it is starting to swing that way (fingers crossed), then maybe we can stop worrying about which of our gun rights will be ripped out of our hands if a Democrat is elected to office. Again, it's wishful thinking, but perhaps it could happen. Neither party should own gun rights, and neither party should be attacking those rights. The right to bear arms is a basic American right, so all Americans should be equally concerned with protecting that right.

God bless America, and pass the ammo!! :s0160: :s0130:
I agree, one of the funniest things I've ever heard regarding this was some female Hollywood actress (can't remember which) talking about guns who said "the thing I hated most about them, was how much fun they were." I think she added that enjoying it made her feel bad. Or something can't be sure. I want to say it was Emily Blunt on some late night talk show. Sorry, got more important things to remember it got kicked of the back of the memory banks.
Anyways I agree I'm all for anyone to join. The more the merrier. Even though it's a touchy topic...Even some crim's. I mean we (they) were criminals who founded this country of the highest order. They also started confiscation around this time they saw the writing on the walls. And thank (insert spiritual entity) that France was at war with those British bubblegum holes at the time too or I'm sure we woulda lost. (or am I thinking war of 1812?) Anyways... we are all better for it. And let's face it our justice systems suck *** but we can all agree on certian basic restrictions I'm sure. I'd rather error on the side of caution. But for that matter I believe in birthing licenses FOR sure and WAY more stringent drivers licenses across the nation. Being able to even speak English clearly should be a must. I worked at Boeing in Everett seemed like half the people couldn't even read the specs required to build. Sometimes I regret being so nice and helping. They shouldn't be working there...Crap I'm rambling again arent I? Now someone pass the ginko biloba or whatever that stuffs called!

P.s. next time someone asks why you need the 2nd Amendment, just reply because of Kent state massacre. If they don't get it they never will. They fail the idiot test miserably and those people aren't worth a seconds spare time.
I'll keep my "assualts rifles/weapons" and I'd kindly like my full auto rights restored across the nation to every legal owner. (I bought the next best thing, a Ruger mini14 bi centennial in all its sexy gorgeousness love that gun)

Why do so many "christians" vote for candidates who don't reflect Christian values?
I do it simply because I keep religion and politics separate. I get enough headaches with politics as it is.
I dont know any Christian that separates their religion from politics. Abortion, gay rights... They vote for the candidate that is closest to their religious beliefs.
Religion is not inherently involved with either of these two. Even if I was an atheist, and I'm not, I would be against abortion. Just don't care about gay rights. Not for it, not against it, just leave me out of it. Also leave churches out of it.

That aside, I'm a single issue voter in the context that ultimately I'd vote for whoever is for my 2A rights. The moment you say you're anti-gun I don't care about your stance on other issues, you will not get a vote from me period. From my perspective, there's no excuse to vote for someone who is anti-gun.

Either this is "Fake News", or the libs are arming themselves knowing that conservatives will soon be coming for them and their gun control agenda, I thought they would be more likely to gravitate towards rocks and bottles and molotavs, who would have guessed it!

It would seem that to vote democrat and purchasing a firearm is like banging your head against a wall just before taking an aspirin for it.
Maybe banging your head against a wall is a bad idea.

Liberal. Leftist. Farther left than the Democratic Party. And I don't see a single bit of contradiction between leftist politics and our shared freedoms to buy/sell, own, carry, and discharge firearms.

Weapons legislation cuts beyond party lines. Hey, being American cuts beyond party lines.

If you'll accept that I'm a simple pinko socialist (busy making money) then I'll accept you're some degree of crypto-fascist (probably busy making money), and we can go put some ear pro over our ears, and exercise our freedom to discharge a great many firearms.
I'm willing to accept that you're a pinko socialist if I have to, but what makes you think that I secretly yearn for bigger government? Just curious...

Not a prepper myself but I have to say I love your alias! Very clever and funny! Especially when you think about the jingle. :s0023:

Everyone on the right is a closet authoritarian (this would imply no guns for citizens btw).

What? Should have seen it coming. ;)

In all honesty, had this been back in the 1860s the Republicans could have easily been seen as authoritarian as they were the ones for a bigger federal government at the time. Though things switched and by the time the Great Depression came about it was the Republicans going for a smaller federal government. These days I'm not even sure what is what anymore. I'd argue both parties a bit authoritarian, though I'd say Democrats lean towards it more than the Republicans do.

How many licks does it take to get into the center of a Tootsie Pop?
"None!" *chomp*

Hey, gotta start teaching little Junior how to do that *somehow*... lol Dad's Little Lizard isn't exactly going to have my mother around to steal my pizzas for him forever, after all. :)

In all seriousness, politics is more a scatterplot than a pure linear spectrum... just that there is considerable overlap in a Venn Diagram between the gun-grabbers, the more in-your-face Poop-In-Everybody's-Punchbowls activists and the Progressive Movement within liberalism. In short, the loudest, most obnoxious, most in-your-face types get all the visibility and become the stereotype for everybody.

On the other hand, I have a couple friends who are transgender and say that really being trans means leaving no visible signs of what you were born as and completely living the new identity (both were kinda awkward and embarrassed about telling me "you should know I used to be a guy," and I take it as a high degree of trust that they did), as opposed to combining a lumberjack-beard with a skirt and heels and saying "Oh I'm a girl today" and trying to make a big dramatic show and "statement." The main concern is... well, think about when you guys were in high-school. If all you had had to do to get into the girls' showers was to say "I'm a girl inside despite what my body looks like"... wouldn't some of you have been tempted to exploit it to the fullest? (And had the compromise option that some conservatives suggest of a "Special Needs single-occupancy" been available, I would have used that even being as straight-"cisgender" as it gets just because regardless of gender I don't wanna have to see anybody else's packages, I don't want anyone except my SO laying eyes on mine and I'd rather spare everyone the abject Cannot Be Unseen horror of my bloated, blindingly-reflective dead-fish-pale carcass.)

Good. I hope more lefties catch the "gun nut" virus. Maybe they will put pressure on their party to let go of their anti-2A agenda.

Then why do "liberals" who "love" the 2A continue to elect anti-2A "liberal" politicians?

Because when voting for human beings, you are getting a package deal (one of the inherent flaws in so-called representative government). The liberal voter probably prefers the lies told by D politicians, to those told by R politicians. There are more issues than just guns.

This is not to say that being a one-issue voter is any worse. If you are going to vote at all, that is as rational a basis to use as any. Which politician is telling more plausible lies about supporting RKBA? All you need to know.

Also, don't forget about things like "rational ignorance" and "confirmation bias". Lots of factors are operating during elections.

In the end, when you are voting for human beings, you are often just selecting your preferred label, D or R. Even chimps could figure out a better system.

Personally I have given up on voting for human beings. Giving them power just turns them rotten. As Lincoln put it, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." This is a test Lincoln failed, by the way.

My guess is the same reason a conservative single issue 2A voter doesnt want to publicly admit they voted for someone they otherwise dont believe in.... Oh, say Trump for example.
There were surely more reasons to vote Trump than that, I personally didn't want a liar in chief in the WH, one who in my opinion should be facing charges, but will probably be pardoned by Obama before he leaves office. I voted for him (Trump) because he was the winner of the primaries.
