I work at a high school. As you all know there is a no gun policy for schools. That didn't stop a kid about 5-6 years ago from bringing his dad's 10mm and shooting another kid who had been bullying him. I remember coming into work a couple hours after the incident wishing I could carry at school.

Public high school? No law against carrying there.

Schools can restrict employees from carrying as part of an employment policy. The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld this ruling a couple years ago in the case of a Medford teacher. So a high school employee carrying on school grounds would be legal but would still be a fireable offense.

In the morning I wake up, take a shower, put my pants on, and then my gun on 100% of the time. If you want to jump me hide in the bathroom and wait, its your only chance. :s0155:

This is a bath mat and cutain set you need to buy.

After only a tiny bit of looking for recent knife attacks in my area, I found these this morning. Helps me realize just how foolish it would be to not shoot when threatened with a knife.

Gun vs knife - 21 foot rule. Utah police study. Person with knife can put knife in your chest before you can draw. Legal self defence shooting.
Try it with a friend. Water pistol and rubber knife please.

The Oregon Police Academy in Monmouth teaches the 21 foot rule. It's a fact. Someone can cover 21 feet and stab you before you can react, draw, aim, and fire. Even then, you'd better hope that first couple of shots stops them.

"1.The "attacker and shooter are positioned back-to-back. At the signal, the attacker sprints away from the shooter, and the shooter unholsters his gun and shoots at the target 21 feet (6.4 m) in front of him. The attacker stops as soon as the shot is fired. The shooter is successful only if his shot is good and if the runner did not cover 21 feet (6.4 m)."

Nice exercise, but in real life the perp is still on top of you and if that first shot doesn't stop him, you still get stabbed.

If it ever happens to me, I'm going to start shooting the bistard at about 20 feet, and keep shooting until he falls. Then if necessary I'll be before a jury with all the available evidence about "21 feet."

Lordy, I hope I never have to shoot someone. I sure would, but the hassle factor...

I thought you could carry on school property if you had a CHL since school is public property. There was in incident at a college in the Salem area a couple years back where an exMarine was carrying and got kicked out of school only to be reinstated due to having a CHL and it being legal to carry on school property.

I would get canned. It's against our school district policy. Remember what happened with the teacher down in Medford? Her case went to court and she lost. I don't have the money to fight a fight that I will probably lose.

Just another story to reinforce the need to always be armed.

Today I talked with a business acquaintenance about a recent encounter he had. He carries concealed when away from home...
Recently he heard someone screaming angrily outside of his house so walked outside and into the street looking. Saw nothing. Then when he stared back to the house, a guy came at him with a knife screaming and threatening to bring his homies back to kill everyone in his house. Was withing seven feet I was told.

My friend's gun was in the bedroom! With his wife coming outside while calling 911 and other witnesses appearing, the bad guy left. Cops caught the guy 3 miles away. When they went to identify him the cops said he was a 'frequent flyer.'

I carry a P-3AT in my bathrobe pocket all the time, if I'm dressed you'll find a Kahr P45 IWB even working in the yard.

Isn't it something when they can make a "policy" that overrides your Constitutional Right? Doesn't that make protecting yourself a "permission" and not a right?
