gunsmith
A gunsmith is a person who repairs, modifies, designs, or builds guns. This occupation differs from an armorer. A gunsmith does factory level repairs, renovation (such as applying metal finishes), and makes modifications and alterations for special uses. Gunsmiths may also apply carvings, engravings and other decorative features to an otherwise finished gun. The environment in which all this takes place often varies depdending on the specific locality, with some gun stores featuring one or a handful of individuals while others resemble large scale specialty shops.
I have a Tikka T3X SL 300wm that I need threaded for muzzle brake and done by Oct 5th. Possibly have a directional break installed. Let me know if you can do this. Thanks.
I'm looking for some help in getting a part blued and would appreciate any recommendations in the PDX Metro area. I have a Norinco SKS bolt cover that I would like to match with the receiver/barrel bluing color.
Thanks,

Hey fellas.
I live in the Portland area, a while back I rescued a mosin from someone selling an estate.
At some point, someone had shortened the barrel and never recrowned it.
Does anyone know of a good place to have it done for a reasonable price?
I looked into just getting the tool but I don't...
Wondering who I should send my model 94 off to... picked it up a little bit ago and I'd like someone who know what they are doing to give it a once over and repair/replace any parts that may need it. The lever is a bit loose, and trigger is "wobbly." I know its sacrilege but I would also like it...
Looking for a gunsmith in the Oregon City area for a trigger job on a CZ 75 compact. Not having much luck looking on my own so far.
Leads and suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi everyone -
I've been looking for a classic American made SxS on a tight budget, and finally found one: an L.C. Smith Hammerless Field Grade in 12GA, with mismatched serial numbers and just enough wrong with it to make it affordable for me. It has a forend so loose it will drop fall off if...
Two old pistols for sale both will need some work
1. Is a old top brake IVER JOHNSON'S ARMS & CYCLE WORKS, no caliber on the barrel but it looks like 32 S&W short. Serial number is 91xxx. Has two patent dates june 16.96 and AUG 25.96. finish is good but shows age in spots, when you pull the...
Hello all. I've been trying to find a good gunsmith in Spokane, without good results. Of course most have been closed until recently, but I went to Firearm Finishing to have some work done on a 3rd gen Smith and Wesson, and ended up $175 poorer and with a damaged slide and extractor pin...
Hope this is the right forum for this question:
I have a 1980-built Colt MKVI Gold Cup in really great original blue condition, Collet bushing and tapered barrel, that needs a checkup by a journeyman 1911 gunsmith. I haven’t found anyone from the local Washington county shops yet who claims to...
I am getting out of AKs. This has been sitting around since I got it as part of a trade during the sandy hook panic. Always planned to get around to finishing it, but I don't think I ever will.
It came in as a single stack, still has the single stack bolt. Previous owner ground out the...
Looking to have a someone drill and tap 3 holes and mount rifle sights on a rem870, does anyone have any recommendations? I’ve gotten a few, but they’ve all turned up as dead ends.
Located in Marysville, willing to travel within reason.
I have for sale a very sought after barrel blank. These have been unobtainium for a few years. They are a much smaller shop than Bartlein or Proof, and put out less product as a result. Most of their barrels get built by their in house gunsmith or sold directly to the top smiths in the...
