bolt action
Bolt action is a type of firearm action in which the weapon's bolt is operated manually by the opening and closing of the breech (barrel) with a small handle, most commonly placed on the right-hand side of the weapon (for right-handed users). As the handle is operated, the bolt is unlocked, the breech is opened, the spent cartridge case is withdrawn and ejected, the firing pin is cocked (this occurs either on the opening or closing of the bolt, depending on design), and finally a new round/cartridge (if available) is placed into the breech and the bolt closed. Bolt-action firearms are most often rifles, but there are some bolt-action shotguns and a few handguns as well. Examples of this system date as far back as the early 19th century, notably in the Dreyse needle gun. From the late 19th century, all the way through both World Wars, the bolt-action rifle was the standard infantry firearm for most of the world's militaries.
In military and law enforcement use, the bolt action has been mostly replaced by semi-automatic and selective-fire firearms, though the bolt action remains the dominant design in dedicated marksman rifles. Bolt-action firearms are still very popular for hunting and target shooting. Compared to most other manually operated firearm actions, it offers an excellent balance of strength (allowing powerful cartridge chamberings), ruggedness, reliability, and potential accuracy, all with light weight and much lower cost than self-loading firearms, and can also be disassembled and re-assembled much faster due to fewer moving parts. The major disadvantage is a slightly lower practical rate of fire than other manual repeating firearms, such as lever-action and pump-action firearms, and a far lower practical rate of fire than semi-automatic weapons, but this is not a very important factor in many types of hunting, target shooting, and other precision-based shooting uses.

This is a really smooth .308 bolt gun I picked up for some bench rest. I put 150 rounds on it. Nice crisp trigger and the threaded bull barrel makes it suppressor ready. Option to buy bare rifle for 400 or include a vortex 6-24 diamondback tactical for 600. Just looking for some cash to fund a...

I'm looking at getting a bolt action rifle for hunting, mostly whitetail/deer or occasional elk. I'm thinking 6.5 creedmoor or .270 but leaning more to 6.5.
After reading around the web im considering the b14 ridge w/ the heavier barrel over the b14 hunter in case I want to plink with it too...
I assume I'm in a distinct minority on this. Specifically, I would like a 30/06 with a 24" barrel and open sights.
What do you guys think about utilizing a gunsmith for installation of open sights?
Who in Vancouver would you recommend to minimize a misaligned or canted sight installation?
Thanks.
Military acceptance marks, assembled at the Tula factory. Has US import markings. Still in functional condition but like with many Mosins it has seen some usage by its original owners. I've fired about 10 rounds for this but it's largely a display piece for me. $450, buyer pays shipping and transfer
Probably 50 rounds through the rifle. Threaded with suppressor height iron sights. Comes with extra spacers and hardware but not the original box (box has, since the posting of this ad, been found). Includes one 4 round detachable box magazine. It’s currently got some scope mounts on it that...
I have a 22lr rifle problem, some might call it an addiction which led me to trying out the Bergara's and they are legit. This rifle has been a shooter right out of the box! Easy 1/2" or less groups at 50 yards with CCI standard velocity and subsonics. Also loves Norma Tac-22 which I have taken...

Sub 200 rounds, clean, sub MOA all day. I've shot this out to 1450 yards and it's a beast. The barrel prefers Hornady 140+ ELDM from my experience.

For you consideration is a Faxon 16" 8.6 Blackout barrel. It has a Remage pre fit barrel tenon thread pitch and the muzzle is threaded 18x1.5 (Q taper thread). It is a 1:3 twist rate. This barrel tenon thread pitch won't fit my action which is why it is for sale. The barrel is brand new, has...
