Very true. You may have a green light, but if a Semi is barreling through a red to your 3 or 9 o'clock you'll be right....dead right.
 
There was a case in Oregon in the 1970's where the Portland Police made a no-knock raid on a biker drug house. One of the bikers was sleeping upstairs and awoke to the commotion, with strangers pounding up the stairs to his location. He shot the lead officer dead, and was charged with murder. He was acquitted, but this was incentive for the Oregon Supreme Court to later use a less clear-cut case involving a street fight in Eugene to declare "duty to retreat" to be rule of law in Oregon in 1982. That case was State v. Charles, 293 Or. 273, 647 P.2d 897 (1982), but it was overturned by State v. Sandovol in 2007, and duty to retreat was effectively instated by the Court's ruling that a jury instruction from the trial judge making it a requirement was done in error.
