I can tell you the price gouging by members on the site has me furious. As long as NorthwestFirearms.com allows it the problem will only get worse. Currently we have retailers that are receiving shipments only to sale them on the classifieds here for 5 times markup. And if it's not them it's just some jerkoff who has no intention of using the products themselves. I am personally unsure if I will continue to renew my small membership here if this continues much longer. If a firearm website cares about the shooting community they will not let these cancerous members abuse the rest of us. That is the end of my rant and I am a supporter of capitalism but this is a RIGGED game we are playing at the moment.
"If I like it I buy it, you have to supply it." Meaning you are allowed to sell at whatever price point you desire if you are the seller. I see a lot of member who give great deals others not so much but I don't feel any animosity toward that seller. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything it is a choice. unfortunate as it is that is the time we are living in at the moment.

Assuming NWFA bought into socialist/communistic types of price controls, can you imagine the increased workload the mods would be handling. Everytime somebody didn't like a price and they reported the member, the mods would have to look at it. Policing the threadcrapping from the whiners must take an already substantial amount of their time. Trying to enforce price control rules would be rediculous. I am sorry you don't get more out of the NWFA site than classified listings.
My point was the situation will continue to get worse if online forums continue to support a back door marketplace that victimizes the very members it claims to represent.

Things that are worth doing generally take effort. If the best argument against cleaning the trash off this website is that it will be hard work, well I guess we already lost the fight.

Over the past decades I have 'sold' or traded ammo, guns, primers, powder at below market prices only to see the recipient jack up the price and resell for a profit. While annoying to see, I comfort myself with the thought that I got the price I wanted and the item was no longer "mine"! But the number of lo-ball parasites who buy cheap and resell will always be in the game - it is their chosen profession!

These forums are not the problem.
Gunbroker is driving this bus.

I would suggest the work should be done by the buyers. If the buyers stop buying the prices will eventually come down. This site is about much more than some "overpriced" classified ads. I hope most other members see it that way.

Price controls initiated by site mods. Hmmm, pretty bold move there Bernie.

It is not up to me or any other Staff member to say what something should sell for....
If that were the case....I'd need a much bigger gun safe....:D

It is up to the buyer to buy or not...at whatever price is agreed upon by the seller and the buyer.

Buyer's voting with their wallets win the election.

A couple of years ago I bought the whole lot of reloading stuff from an estate sale. In that lot were several unopened boxes of Nosler 7mm & .30 caliber ballistic tip and partition bullets, 50 & 100 box count, sealed boxes. There were also a couple of 50 count sealed boxes of Barnes X-bullets in .284 caliber, 140 grain weight. Now, these bullet brands were at least 20 years old, but were listed as NOS in the Gunbroker auction I set up to sell all of 'em. Starting price: $1.00 per box. I felt that the buyers would set the price for what they'd pay.
Frankly, I was "flabbergasted" as to what each of those sealed boxes of bullets, sold for. So, in this case the BUYERS were indeed the ones who set the final prices, not the seller.

My buddy has done 6 digits on gb in the last 4 months, 95% of them starting at .01
The only ammo he lost money on was 30-06 hunting ammo, and only that one auction.

Reads to me like your buddy is a "smart business person". Never did I think that a box of Nosler 7mm ballistic tip bullets (100) would sell for $65.00 + $8.50 shipping.
I've doled out thousands of primers bought from that estate to local customers who reload, and needed those, but only what they would normally sell for. I sleep just fine through the night. :D

Needed for actual use vs resale is the issue lol

............

You participate in an open forum of your own volition , and feel abused.

You don't like it so someone else should take action.

On the flip side...
If you make money during the current market frenzy, that is between you and the buyer. Accept your money, live happy, buy more stuff, and move on. If you come onto a public forum to brag about it, you just decided to involved everyone else. Don't be surprised if you hear feedback you don't like.

What I love is when someone throws out a truly outrageous price for whatever the scarce commodity of the moment is and they get nothing but the sound of crickets in reply from everyone....Letting them twist in the wind is the best reply...They get absolutely nothing and deserve it...
