If you're going to go bigger I would stick the standards that have been around for years.
30.06 .308 .
Pistol caliber .9mm and 45 .just because that ammo can be found any where

I am just getting back on the 22 band wagon.
Just got a 22 kit that converted a AR15 TO 22.
and I will be buying a 22 pistol probably tomorrow or at least This week.
10/22 RIFLE is a must gun for every one .
I need one .
But I'm going to get a pistol for now.View attachment 516978
Wait.

Are you saying you don't own a 22 @EPS ?

I figured you did.

SHTF a 22 will do you will be shooting squrils or birds .
But you might want to get a 308 just in case lol
I don't know. I wouldn't want to be shot at by a 10/22 with a 25 round mag just as much as any other rifle with a 25 round mag.

I imagine that you could get all 25 on target easily too.

22 is the quick essential training cartridge. Train yourself to do just about any platform on a 22.

Nope had one when I was a kid my frist real gun was a MARLEIN MOD 60 22 RIFLE.
BUT AFTER THAT IT HAS BEEN BIGGER .
but like I said I just got the KIT FOR AR AND 4 mags and I am get a a pistol .
Lol .but I have already started buying ammo
I have about 3000 rounds of 22 ammo

If I was a relatively new gun owner with only a 9mm Glock and I was looking at something to get next it would be without a doubt a .223 caliber semi-automatic rifle of the AR variety from Palmettostatearmory.com, I would be also tempted to get a Ruger 10/22 .22 caliber rifle (also semi automatic) and I would do it before Jan 1st 2019. The pump action shotgun if I was interested in that I would get later as funds permitted, since that isn't currently being legislated against and going to be more of a hassle to buy starting Jan 1st 2019.

Well I bought a few hundred Rounds of different stuff to see what works best with the Conversion kit .
But I buy some ammo almost every week .
I just got 1000 9mm last night or yesterday I buy a lot 9mm and 45 because those are the two handgun that I will be carrying.
So I shoot them a lot.but I look for deals .
On all ammo if I can afford it at the time I buy it.
As a matter of fact I think I'm going to buy the 22 pistol and some ammo and buy another safe or ammo locker .

A ruger 10/22 or an AR.

The time is right. Shotguns can ALWAYS be had, and often for a good deal.

Id swing for the first two and maybe get the shotgun later. Black Friday deals are almost here as well.

Ooooh Black Friday sales!

Someone always has a 10/22 on sale.

You know, for those that don't already have one, like @Kruel J :p

Ok k back on topic .
To the OP .you buy what you want .
But you did mention SHTF.
SO STAY WITH THE BASICS.
.22
9MM
45ACP
223/5.56
308.or 7.62/51.
Or the AK round 7.62/39
Those are are rounds you can buy in bulk and save up

Sorry I forgot if you go shotgun .
Rem 870 pump or a Mossberg pump in 12 Gage .
You can't go wrong with those and you can buy bulk 12 Gage buck shot also.
