Just got cell signal back. Yes, Fire is scary and I'm getting my first real world taste of it. Live in Bonney Lake, WA and the fire line is literally 4 blocks from my house. Evacuating about 3 blocks from me and it's circling the plateau. All the stuff we do to prep can be canceled in a second.
It did put a lot into perspective. Good with power and running different gen sets And fuels. Do want to add a NG port near where I run gen for easy third fuel source. With solar gen on the way, I'm feeling pretty solid.
Cell phones down and fiber optic lines burned, need to continue to upgrade coms with family. We have some baufangs but really not the time to break the rules and transmit with no license. Need to think this one through more.
Feel good about what to grab, especially when most valuables in multiple Fire safes with Fire boxes inside them. With insurance in place and taking a ton of updated pictures, I find it not hard to leave everything if needed. Family over material things. That was very uplifting.
Made me think about what guns to grab. That was interesting. Decided uniformity was best and went with a couple AR platforms. I did decide to load up another 10 mags though and put them in the carry bag instead of taking an Ammo box.

I was looking at the map below. The fire area outline has been greatly expanded from last night but they haven't provided info updates other than expanded evacuation notices.

Talked with my boss this evening and he heard the Lionshead Fire might merge with Beachie Creek Fire. Anybody else heard this?

Edit: Looks likes Beachie Creek and Lionshead Fires have already met each other. I heard the Beachie Creek has been renamed Santiam Fire, not sure if that includes the Lionshead Fire or not. This will be 300k acres before morning if it's not already there. Scary stuff.

Lionshead Fire is on the right, Beachie Creek on the left.
