Radiation spikes throughout Greater Tokyo Area on Feb. 14 — One of highest seen in months (Gov’t Data)

All MEXT monitoring stations in and around the Greater Tokyo Area showed significant spikes in radiation. This includes Tokyo (Shinjuku), Saitama, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Ibaraki.

well you know I ain't too smart, but looking at the linked graph, it looked to me like the one back in mid-January (a month ago) was twice the level as Feb.14th

You were looking at the earthquake data not the radiation levels.

Which these silly graphs are worthless since there is no scale on them. Those peaks and valleys could be so minor as to be caused by sun spots. With no scale there is no way to do anything but run around like a chicken with their head cut off screaming the sky is falling.
 
One of the Fukashima reactors has gone into fission mode again, probably last week as fission isotopes are being ejected into the enviroment and water/ocean
BTW did anyone notice the apex sea predator die off on the pacific rim?
 
Mercury drift from China's coal-fired power plants is more of an environmental threat the US (esp. WA) than any radiation Japan will ever be.
