Back in the day empty LAW tubes worked wonderfully according to a relative of mine who did prepare for the worst...in the 1990s, even to the point his boys knew his grid and where to find stuff after he passed. A great guy, a conservative Democrat of the old school Nam vet. I do miss him, a true firearms enthusiast and collector.

a few years ago I had a conversation with an ex Russian soldier, he asked me you know my country's government is corrupt I said of course he then ask me what is the difference from my government and yours I said what he replied yours wears a mask ours doesn't, he said take off

Yes, he was, served 11 nearly 12 terms in his state legislature. He told me once he couldn't get elected to dogcatcher in his district with n R hung on his name. A few sessions he was the Republican Minority Whip...as a Dem, so that shows you he was pretty conservative in many areas but he took care of his constituents so well he won one re-election with 98.3 % of the vote....It got so bad for the Dems they would try to beat him in the primary with several other candidates. The Rs just quit running against him and considered them one of theres.

Actually my mom was one of them, she was a backwoods Tennessee democrat, but not anything like the ones now, a conservative democrat as you said.

At the time of her death in 2003 she still thought the dems were for the little guy, I was never able to get her to actually look at them for what they had actually become.

Politics NEVER was discussed in our home while I was growing up, least I never remember it being discussed. Later after I became an adult and some time around the Reagan era when I started to pay attention to politics and vote, my mom would look at me, knowing I was a conservative republican and just shake her head, all the while, not understanding there were in fact, no more conservative demo-crats left.

She still lived in the distant pasts [1940's?] where the dems actually were concerned for the little guy instead of "feigning concern" while importing millions of illegals so they can create dependency & hold on to power all under the false guise of compassion [SIC]...

GOD... I hope trump wins.....

The more I look at trump and the more I find out about him, the better I like him. If you don't think Clinton is a priority enemy to your second amendment rights....You need to keep up with history and past current events. AWB 1994 by who? A Clinton and back then exec. actions didn't carry the weight they do today. Yes, work to defeat the gun grabbers at every level but realize Clinton will do her best to bring back the AWB via stacking the courts so any EA that is challenged as unconstitutional will be thrown out by a liberal Supreme court.

It is a lot of Oregonians who don't bother to monitor what is currently going on locally in Salem. They are the ones who are not keeping up with current events, and what has been taking place and being discussed in our own state legislature for the last couple of years.

The only reasons why major new gun control was not pursued in Salem this year were:

1) It was a short legislative session this year, and it is very difficult to get major legislation through in a short session of only 35 days. 2017, however, is going to be a long 160 day session.

2) 2016 is an election year. And the Democratic leadership does not want to hurt their party in the coming November election, by passing new anti-gun legislation just before the people vote. When Democrats recently did that in Colorado and past a ban on high capacity gun magazines, they suffered in the following election.

Let me repeat: The IMMEDIATE threat for an Assault Weapons ban in our state is from SALEM, NOT WASHINGTON, DC.


Just 4 months from now, we will see new gun control bills introduced in Salem. And there will be NOTHING that can be done by then, to stop them from becoming law. Since the NO FAKE EMERGENCIES initiative failed to get on the November ballot, the only hope we now have is for a miracle in the coming election, with either Brown being defeated, or a couple of State Senate seats being gained by the Republican Party.

For a President though I want a President who is going to put the country's well being ahead of his own well being. Donald Trump is not capable of doing that . it will be just like Bill Clinton's second term where every day the news was Bill Clinton ...all the time.

Trump is less likely to hasten our impending economic doom, and less likely to trample our rights. It's also fun to wave a Trump sign in front of a Socialist and watch them loose their minds. But I don't believe he will hold the interests of the USA above his ego.

I think he has a slightly better moral compass than Clinton. She is all about power. Trump at least is a capitalist, a successful businessman, gets STUFF done and a deal maker because he is ABOUT money. Both poor choices but I think Trump is far more capable of righting our sinking economy than Killery, and all Americans do better under a better economy (remember the 80s and 90s?).

She just wants power and she is far more petulant than Trump.... Her record in foreign policy is pure garbage. You would have thought she would have learned from what happened when a mid east strong man like Hussein was removed and would have not gone after Qaddafi with NO PLAN for when he was toppled. Yes we went after him in 1985 or 86 and the US Navy (and Air Force) damn near killed him but that was in direct response to his support of the Lockerbie jet bombing terrorists.

Cheap prepping....I am a cheap prepper for some things not others. Food...we can/preserve/dry a bunch on our own. Ammo and PD... I don't compromise too much but I figure a BCM will shoot as well with my skill set as a high-end Noveske....
I suggest grabbing stuff on sale and keep an eye out also try to have a little bit of cash stashed to take advantage.... of what I like to call golden opportunities. Personally I am thinning out some old hobby stuff even sometimes at a bit of a loss....but it allows me to add to preps while not subtracting from our family budget which is tight as the wife develops her business that will help fund retirement in a few years. I especially look for non powered tools....got a hand cranking drill? I do, same with a few hand saws....means I can get stuff done, power or no. emp or not. Just picked up a mil spec BCG for about fitty bucks...NEW.

I'm not as worried about DC as I am Salem and Olympia, myself. SCOTUS would *still* call Dred Scott "stare decisis law of the land" if not for the workaround... when Congress took it out of their hands by ramming an emancipation Amendment so far up their collective arse it knocked out teeth.

No, the real worry is Bloody Brownstain, Crapsack Carpetbagger Inslee, and their legislative and initiative-bought-to-order allies.

And if I were elected Prez, I'd do one thing Trump never would in a million years: open both a RICO investigation into Bloomberg, and bring ITAR action against him for his personal SS-Einsatzgruppe's movement of weapons into a prohibiting nation (the Bahamas) in blatant violation of both local-nation, American and international law. Hey, if my girlfriend can't so much as borrow one damn PMAG shooting with me while visiting because of being Canadian... sauce for a goose is sauce for a gander.

Bonus point after, I'd also challenge all the Demanding Mommies to back up their words with deeds and voluntarily put themselves on the Prohibited Persons List, with a proviso making them legally unable to employ armed security also.

I am a lot more worried about what will be happening in the next Oregon legislative session than I am about Hillary. Hillary will probably win but the Republicans are almost certain to retain control of the House, so on a national level not much will change. But on a local level...Governor Brownstain+ a liberal majority in both the Oregon House and Senate equals bad news for us here at home.

It's pretty simple really- we gave all of these Socialist a$$holes the power, and we can take it back. 100 million+ Americans own firearms, and despite a difference of opinion in politics, most agree they WILL NOT give up their arms w/o a fight. And it's clear the Democratic agenda is to disarm American citizens and rewrite the Constitution to allow it. How bad do you really want your freedom? Are you willing to fight for it, sacrifice your comfort, to see an America that truly is a land of the free? Some National Guard units and Law Enforcement agencies may fight for a corrupt government, but once they see we'll fight them, they'll change their loyalties quick. But I seriously doubt either armed force will fire upon American Citizens- both have no desire to kill the people they serve and protect. If anything we'll need both also to force the government to make sweeping changes. We need to rally them to our cause.

At that point, politicians are gutless, weak, blowhards- they're good at giving orders, but not doing any dirty work. With no armed force to enforce their unconstitutional laws, how will they stop us from making immediate changes? Laws on paper and in a virtual environment are nothing if they cannot be enforced. If thousands of armed citizens march on the Capital, who will stop us? We can demand the immediate resignation of any dishonorable, traitorous politician- they do NOT want to experience the alternative.

This, to me is one explanation for why they will pass any law they can - regardless of how ineffective - just for the sake of clamping down a bit more and then a little more next year. You can't confiscate our guns today, but three generations from now when almost no one owns a gun because they are so over-regulated it's too much hassle, they will have their way. So fight now. Vote. Get your friends to vote. Introduce a new person to shooting at least twice a year. Get instructor credentials and volunteer at NRA classes. Do whatever you can but please, please do something.
