$20/week?
As mentioned above-
Keep your eye on local specials. Northwest Armory has had 30rd AR pmags(gen2) for $10ea (limit 6) for a few weeks now. Can't find them shipped for that hardly. They also routinely have 9mm training ammo (115gr) at $10/brick, manufacturer varies, but it all seems decent. Every once in a while they'll have some under $10.
Don't forget about BiMart. Keep a. Eye on there flyers, often decent deals on American Eagle .223 & 5.56.
Would a hi cap magazine ban affect pistols as well?... I have no idea, but have a few 32rd for one of my fullsize, and will likely get a few for another. Because they're only a few $ more than regular...for now.
Next up, I'd imagine would be to not buy anything for a while until you've set aside enough for a lower and buy one, then another, then the components to build...shoot you don't even have to build it/them, but just have the components available for when you have the time to..something I haven't done myself, but may just.
Kinda difficult to suggest, given everyone's financial situation is different, as are there ultimate goals. Do you want to hobby, target shoot a bunch, maybe get into organized semi-professional shooting, just for personal defense (still takes a bunch of practice), preparing for a Zombie Necroplolypse or just the standard SHTF, or simply to have a few of what may be more challenging to buy a year from now.
