So, if gaffe-a-minute joe comes up with another AWB, and the next hate-school-kids-nutjob starts tossing molotov cocktails, do we outlaw gasoline?
No! Schools are well prepared for fire. Just not gunfire.

So, after a week long silence, this is the best plan the nra can come up with?
bubblegum the nra, and bubblegum anyone who wants to turn a complex issue into a simple shouting match.
So first, let me explain where I stand on gun ownership.
I think that all weapons should be able to be owned by all people.
(That's the REAL SIMPLE version.)
So what are my thoughts on stopping gun violence?
In no particular order,
Better mental healthcare system.
Respect and funding for education.
No more elective wars. I believe when the u.s. goes to war, violence is justified and glorified by the media.
Taking this further, it makes some people think violence is a viable solution in our society.
A serious reduction of overtime, more paid holidays and vacation time from work.
This would enable people to spend more time with their families, and therefore make for more solid communities.
More or less guns is not the answer.
I can get behind the NRA plan, but it won't happen. Remember, "never waste a tragedy to get things accomplished you couldn't otherwise get done". The only thing that will be accomplished with stricter gun laws is that the law abiding citizen will be giving up more of his 2A rights, and THAT is the goal.
Precisely. I think it needs to become a common saying that liberal gun control advocates "love dead children". Because, they do. It gives them a soapbox to spread anti second amendment hysteria. It has to become a saying that is as common as any other slogan or conventional wisdom. Liberals love dead kids. The last week has proven it. When the most powerful and vocal people on the left make NO mention of armed security/police/teachers in all schools and barely touch on mental health and focus only on legal gun owners, the fix is obviously in. Leftists LOVE dead kids. Its political gold for them.
ughh....probably the dumbest thing ive ever read. how can you debate like adults when you actually believe the other side LOVES dead kids? i mean really. say that outloud and let it sink in that you've actually believed that other humans LOVE dead kids. thats so unbelievably stupid that you should be ashamed of yourself.

Seattleites to NRA: scum-sucking dunces, and other pleasantries
Saturday morning there were nearly 1,600 public comments many seething with hatred toward gun owners on the Seattle Times website in reaction to the National Rifle Associations proposal to offer support for school security which included armed security to prevent another tragedy in a gun-free school zone.

The NRA has too much power and money to be trusted 100%, I agree. However, their statement today was a no BS statement of fact and the plan is solid. It is a plan that our government needs to get behind - and I mean not just back it, they need to support it.
There is no reason why the government can't fund infrastructure upgrades in the form of access control and physical security improvements to supplement the security that will be provided through the NRA. The President stated that doing nothing isn't an option. Stricter gun laws not only infringe on our rights but they don't work. This is a plan that our elected officials should be able to come together on. In my opinion, Mr. Obama should either get on board with this or get out of the way.

You guys would crack me up, if the kool-aide you regurgitate wasn't so sad.Personally I'm sure he's not a big fan of guns. Politically hes too much of pragmatist to expend the political capital and I'm sure hes conflicted as Constitutional expert on the 2A. However, his hand is being forced, which is my point. High cap mags and military style rifles are tough to defend for a large and growing contingent.
prag·mat·ic
