NFA Processing & Coronavirus

As you are well aware, the coronavirus is disrupting nearly every facet of society. This morning, ASA spoke with our contacts at ATF to get you the FACTS about the potential impact the coronavirus could have on NFA processing times. Here is what we know: NFA Division is operating as normal. At this time, West Virginia (where the NFA Division is located) has no confirmed cases of coronavirus. NFA Division is assessing their current remote work operations. They are identifying which staff (examiners and contractors) will be able to work remote if necessary, and are taking the necessary steps to ensure that the transition to remote processing would be as seamless as possible. Should remote work become necessary, NFA Division will do their best to minimize disruptions and continue processing transfers as accurately and efficiently as possible. For those of you who recall the government shutdown in early 2019, any coronavirus related disruptions will be far less impactful. ASA commends ATF for being proactive in their approach to the coronavirus. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide relevant factual updates as they become available.

I am hopeful the work from home piece could lead to them getting back to the electronic Form 4's and speeding things back up. No reason not to have a digitized process in this day and age.

My form 4 was submitted on 1/14, check cashed on 1/20. I've come to terms with the long wait, but damn if I'm not cautiously optimistic. Seems like everyday somebody posts a 2-3 month turn around on r/NFA for form 4's. Hell, one dude one come back in 40 days! I've heard some people with "connections" say they're doing first in first out. Fingers crossed...

Form 4 sent priority mail 3/16/20. Credit card has always been processed in 48-72 hours. No debit on the card as of today.

Technically, without the delay noted above, it would be closer to six months. The tri-lugs just got rocksett. Yup, I'm stoked to try it.

Seems like the ATF is catching up now... My dealer's shop was closed because he's not a gun store but rather an engraver who happens to be an FFL but he was able to work with me and get it in my hands.
