I'll start - I was long ago given a High Standard 'Sentinel' M-103 .22 cal revolver.

It wasn't until much later I learned the history of this gun and how it's designer, Harry Sefreid, eventually went to work for Ruger and helped develop the 10-22.

These guns have an interesting history and part of it is Sears & Roebuck once owned stock in High Standard and it was offered as their original 'J. C. Higgins' line of guns. Cool stuff.

J.Henry .58 caliber flintlock Trade Rifle circa 1800 -1820's.
Trade Rifles were made for use in fur trade...as in trading to the tribes for furs and hides.
That said...many a Trade Rifle fell into a traders or trappers hands as well.
They weren't fancy but worked well for what a rifle needed to do .
This one still gets used from time to time...and I took my last elk with it.

F.E Seifeth St. Louis "Plains Rifle"
.50 caliber percussion rifle circa 1840's - 1850's.
This is a fancy sporting rifle of the Mexican War / gold rush era.
This one also gets shot with ...and has taken deer and won a few rifle matches for me.

Andy - My dad and I made a Pennsylvania rifle about 30 years ago from a chunk of curly maple and assorted parts that looks very much like your original trade rifle.

My Ithaca M1911A1 is top on my list of many USA made guns in the safe:

More I think about it almost all my firearms are American made. 🇺🇸

I'd go with "odd" or unusual with my next one.

It is the first gun that I owned...My Grandpa's 1962 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge.
28 inch barrel with a modified choke...I still hunt and shoot with it today.
Well so what ...?

What is odd about the early 20 gauge Wingmasters is that they were built on a 12 gauge receiver.
This makes 'em have a bit of a different swing and feel than a new Wingmater in 20 gauge.

Picked up these two American made repros (that Andy told me all about) when we were down in Phoenix a couple months ago , and gave the lighter colored one to my son in-law who's a 10th Mtn Infantry Afghanistan vet.

And also this Spencer trap-door that I picked up for @11Charlie since he lives down there now.
