There was a young man with really long dark hair that went up to the Cease Fire Oregon organizers and started asking questions regarding the state laws governing gun shows.
He started to question the CFO people about not adhering to state laws regulating a gun show (over 25 firearms transactions) without background checks, or an FFL in attendance.
He had a handful of paperwork backing up his claims.
He also had a video camera running at the time.
Two large cops picked him up and escorted him to the curb and told him not to comeback.

This is posted on a similar thread. Interesting part for me is at 3:00Gun Grabber's Illegal Gun Show Turn In - YouTube

So then you supported the cause?

What kind of a moron would sell an "assault" rifle for $150?
I hope what happens in other cities happens here-people line up to buy from those who are turning guns
in at the buy back program.

Although I must admit that we once turned in an old broken down shot gun that was worth nothing.
Got a $50 gift card to Fred Meyers- and used it in a Freddies that happens to sell guns and ammo :)

This was done on public or private land?

If one wants to get technical, Cease Fire Oregon was buying guns; they were exchanging gift cards in specified dollar amounts for those guns. That establishes a quid pro quo. The guns were not being donated.

I would love to see them taken to court over this. It could be a potential game changer in how and who represents Ceasefire. You know they would turn the tables on us in a heart beat if they had the same opportunity. Sadly I don't have the finances to fund such a venture.

Maybe someone should call the NRA or other pro-gun organization, see if they can look into it.

Here's the pistols I scored.
Also, a couple of nice vintage Winchester 22's (not shown).

.380 Grendel, Un-fired Hi-point 9mm, FIE .22lr Texan and the best for last, a really super nice S&W model 27-2 with shoulder holster.

Thank you for saving that Model 27 - they are getting rarer and harder to come by. I would like very much to own one someday.

Which cause? The buy back and CFO? Definitely not.
Turning the tables on them by giving them a shotgun that buying turning it it does nothing to make the world "safer", and using the gift card to get ammo? You bet.

Exactly the POS Spanish .25 auto I turned in had no retail value (in good condition at auction they bring $50.00) Mine was in very poor condition had no safety (the part was actually missing) I had to turn a pin with a rebated section in the middle to allow the thing to even go click (working guns brought full value). It was a very uncommon pistol so not even giving it to a Gunsmith as parts would have made any sense as the chances of a local gunsmith ever seeing a POS pre WWII S.E.A.M. .25 auto in need of any part this one could offer would be like getting hit by lightning twice in the same spot.

Instead I managed to Buy a full tank of fuel to get me back and forth to work for 10 days. And 2 boxes of Winchester AA trap loads, A can of White Sandable Primer for a painted stock project I am working on, And pay myself back for the fuel to run up to the buyback.

Had I not takin this gun to the buy back the only possible us for it I could envision was to use as a throw down if I even had the misfortune of shooting someone I shouldn't have. Other then that it would have spent from Saturday until my son takes possession of my firearms when I die sitting in an ammo can on a shelf. Instead it advanced my personal wealth equal to 6.25 hours of work after taxes.

I'm absolutely disillusioned over this whole mess. Those of you who are bragging about how you scored gift cards in return for "junk" guns should seriously question your conscience. To be standing in that line whether you are a forum moderator,a vendor,or just " john bagofdonuts",regardless of whether you were "caught on camera" or not,you are a statistic for Ceasefire. They counted you as a supporter, regardless of your motivation. I cannot understand how someone can stand up for 2nd amendment rights, yet play their game for a stupid gift card, regardless of what you bought with it. I'm not better than you,but I can say with all honesty that I would not give them a pellet gun found at the bottom of the briny deep for $1000. Where is the integrity?

I look at it this way. They don't have an unlimited supply of gift cards. If we all took crappy guns that don't work and aren't worth a dime in, we could use up all the gift cards. That would block everyone else from getting them. Thus hopefully saving some decent guns. CFO gains nothing because they really aren't taking any "guns off the streets" and we get to rub it in their face by taking the gift cards and using them to buy ammo or guns or something else fire arm related. And if there is any media there, we can tell them exactly what we are doing. And why.I don't think that is a bad thing.
Or.....better yet. Donate the value of the gift card to the NRA and use gift card to buy whatever you want!

Sounds like some of you have a case of the "can't beat em,join ems" to me..anyway,I guess everyone is free do what they feel good about. For now. Thanks for listening.

OK, I want to be clear that I'm not the one who called her a "somewhat-hot younger gal", 308 called her that, but looking through the pictures I'm guessing this is her.

She does look like someone who would be into being cuffed and frisked.

LOL, I was trying to figure out why all the guys here think she's hot.
Right now she is a bit of a bow wow, but she can be fixed up, as you said.

What we can agree upon is these people hate us and they hate the second amendment. We have differing
opinions on how to defeat them.

I just looked at an article about the event, they acutually are bragging about how this shows that a lot of Oregonians are "changing their mindset about guns, and this shows they are willing to give them up for the safety of the public, and it also shows that more Americans want stiffer gun laws and background checks"So looks like they are taking to relics and broken guns and using them for the purpose of their agenda. They will never go under because they have deep pocket supporters, and do they get scrap prices for the metal? hmmmmmmm.

Definitely! I can't agree with you more!
However, has anyone been listening to Lars today? Seems there is a legality issue regarding the transfer of your guns to Ceasefire..law experts (which I am NOT) seem to be implying that Ceasefire may have made everyone who turned in a firearm guilty of a misdemeanor..just what the lawyer said,as I heard it. I'm sure if I'm wrong ill be corrected!
