i would throw my guns away before i would be a positive stat for Cease Fire Oregon....
I can see how this work "In Portland today, 300 people in support of more gun legislation turned in their guns"

WOW thats amazing the Women that was on the KGW video was right behind me the guy who turned in 3 rifles and a BB pistol was one of the guys I talked into selling one of his rifle to the guys on the sidewalk. And the guy in the brown coveralls in one of the last shots was the one there behind me that was turning in the Chopped .22 rifle that would have gotten him a Nice fat federal felony had he been caught with it.

And I managed to stay out of any of the photos or tape YEA ME...

OK, I want to be clear that I'm not the one who called her a "somewhat-hot younger gal", 308 called her that, but looking through the pictures I'm guessing this is her.

She does look like someone who would be into being cuffed and frisked.

If she could be turned.....she could become a powerful ally.

Okay, let me get this right. This buy back was organized by Ceasefire Oregon. A private organization. Why are the police involved in it? Why are they working on the tax payers dime to do this rather than be on patrol and go after bad guys, who are the real problems, not people owning guns? Did Ceasefire Oregon pay to utilize the police? If no, why not?

Good point. The police are probably not charging CF a dime. Any reason why we can't have a "Historical Firearms" buy back with the help of the police? We could say we are with NWFA a group dedicated to preserving historical Americana for future generations.

While I don't know the answer to your questions I presume the police are involved because it involves guns. I know that's not a good answer but that's my guess. A lot of the officers out there are Reserves though (who do it for free) so there are still just as many on patrol as usual. I would like to know the answers to the questions as well.

The reason I am questioning it is I am Jewish. During our high holy days there is a Portland police car that sits in front of the synagogue to help prevent terrorist attacks. They don't do it out of the goodness of their heart, we pay for it and it ain't cheap. If even one of the officers there was on the tax payers money, I am not going to be very happy about it.

CeasfireOrygun apparently pays for all of the gift certificates from the donations of supporting members. That is what the lady told me. If I remember correctly, this was also sponsored by the PDX Mayor and Portland Police.

There was a young man with really long dark hair that went up to the Cease Fire Oregon organizers and started asking questions regarding the state laws governing gun shows.
He started to question the CFO people about not adhering to state laws regulating a gun show (over 25 firearms transactions) without background checks, or an FFL in attendance.
He had a handful of paperwork backing up his claims.
He also had a video camera running at the time.
Two large cops picked him up and escorted him to the curb and told him not to comeback.

I was there and didn't see that. In fact, he is in one of my photos. Perhaps it happened before we got there.

Sad to see that AR get turned in for a measly $150 gift card.
I can understand people showing up with older stuff being because it's probably been in the closet/attic for years but where did some of these anti's come up with the relatively newer, later model guns like the AR's and SKS's?

I'm pretty sure this guy was a plant. It was not a coincidence that the news crew was there pretty much only when this guy with the two most vilified weapons showed up. The evil AR, and the Glock favored by crazies with huge magazines. I agree, why would he ever take position of them if he hated them so much. They just needed the photo op to make the sheep think that all of the guns that they "got off the street" were "assault weapons".

Anybody think maybe we should get some gift cards together and host our own "buy back"? it would be cheaper than trying to buy em cash. Just keep anything that's worth a damn
