If they would of just quietly stopped selling the magazines the vast majority wouldn't even of noticed.

You want to publicly state it and use it as political statement in our community? That's what I see this is about and feel is wrong.

I however totally understand people and the world don't bend to my feelings nor do I expect them to.

I bought a pistol from Fredie's back in the mid-70's (Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt). Then they quit the firearms business. I was very surprised when I learned a couple of years ago that Fredie was back to selling guns. I don't see this as a huge blow to the firearms community, as a whole.

"They" never quit selling firearms. Its a store by store thing. Some have always sold them and some have stopped then started again.

Agreed!!

To add to my concerns...
If one store decides not to sell certain magazines ... How long 'till another store decides to do the same?
Kinda like the run of stores that are limiting the selling of AR rifles or a store policy of 21 or older to purchase a firearm
( Long gun )

I am not trying to argue with anyone ... I just do not like someone limiting my reading.
Andy

To make my position clear:
Fred Meyer , or any other store can choose what magazines they wish to sell.

But the limiting of where one can buy reading material , to me , is a form of censorship.

In the interest of harmony I will cease posting in this thread.
If any of my comments have caused discord or offense , that was not my intent.

I get that Freddys has the right to stop selling whatever they want, but thats not the concern here. The bigger concern is the cultural vilifying of the gun, a second amendment right.
This week thousands of high schoolers walked out in protest of "gun" violence. These are going to be tomorrows voters...
The mainstream media doesn't present both sides of the story about gun rights, vilifies guns, and only posts "gun" violence statistics (not legal defensive gun use) its all the middle ground people know to read...
2 weeks ago, stores across the nation stopped selling rifles to those under 21 in light of the federal 18 age minimum. Including a local gun store just up the road from Portland.
some stores stopped selling military pattern rifles all together.

now today, Freddys stops selling gunzines in their news stands as if it was porn...

How do you raise tomorrows voters in a day when defensive weapons are treated like a sin... ?

You parent your kids, and do so responsibly so they aren't wandering sheep.

yes, of course. Easy for us... but what about those in the middle?

...every day this debate unfolds in America we become the minority. Responsible ownership of military patter weapons.

It's a tough battle, feelings mattering more than facts with most Millenials.

I don't have the answer there, brother.

I just sent them this on their comment site:

"Please know that as a result of your First Amendment censorship and Second Amendment discrimination, confirmed by your new policies to remove from your stores any publication depicting "assault-type" firearms and to refuse to sell long guns to anyone under 21 years of age, I, and many like-minded supporters of the First and Second Amendments, will no longer shop at any of your stores. I hope that you will learn, in your pandering attempt to remain "politically neutral", that you have, in fact, taken a political side.
Good day and good riddance."
There is a competitor closer to my home. I'm not feeling terribly loyal just now.

So if the gun magazine has more that ten pages...is it a high capacity magazine?...:D

All kidding aside.. I see this as censorship and hit to the 1st Amendment.
Limiting where I can buy reading material of my choice is a form of control...
Control leads to power...
Power can lead to abuse...
Especially if one can limit or control the flow of information.
Andy
I am glad you clarified "gun magazine" as I thought that FM was removing gun magazines as in Magpul, Glock, etc. off their shelves.

The first amendment is not about forcing retailers to carry publications they don't like.

It is about not letting the government prohibit speech.
But apparently it IS about the government forcing a baker to bake a cake for the wedding of a gay couple against over baker's religious objections. Just sayin'...
