Just got back this reply:

"Dear Valued Customer,
Due to an increase in email volume, we are currently experiencing a delay in replying to your email. Our representatives will respond to all emails in the order they are received. Thank you for your patience."

I sure hope that the "increase in email volume" they are experiencing is a bunch of 2A supporters giving them a ration of sh1t...

I bought a pistol from Fredie's back in the mid-70's (Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt). Then they quit the firearms business. I was very surprised when I learned a couple of years ago that Fredie was back to selling guns. I don't see this as a huge blow to the firearms community, as a whole.

That was a good purchase no matter where you bought it;).

...I don't see this as a huge blow to the firearms community, as a whole.
In my mind, it's not about this being a blow to the firearms community, but rather about corporate cow-towing to a very vocal crowd of people that are completely uniformed about that which they are vocalizing. This continuous and rapidly-expanding trait of corporations pandering to a group of whiny crybabies is making me sick.

The article even says they are shifting their business to be primarily food. So again. I could care less. Really, how many of you were loyal FM firearm purchasers?
I agree, they are really just a grocery store, but I still just shake my head at the absurdity of dropping gun magazines that have AR's in them.

So if the gun magazine has more that ten pages...is it a high capacity magazine?...:D

All kidding aside.. I see this as censorship and hit to the 1st Amendment.
Limiting where I can buy reading material of my choice is a form of control...
Control leads to power...
Power can lead to abuse...
Especially if one can limit or control the flow of information.

Excellent joke!

And also to my point about the 1A I made in my message to Fred Meyer on their comment page.

Actually I disagree. Most places don't sell porn magazines. Again, businesses can choose what or what not to sell at their discretion.

I wonder if just a little while in the future, if someone put an American Rifleman magazine in amongst all the other magazines in a Fred Meyer store, will it be construed as a threat of violence, much like a bomb threat is now, against the population at large and be prosecuted as such?
Very likely.

What part do you disagree on?
Limiting where I can buy reading material is a from of control
If you control the flow of information you can abuse your power
These are my main points...

I do agree that a store can choose what items to carry and sell...and I can choose not to shop there as well.

That said it really grates on me when someone limits what I can read ...and I consider the curtailing or limiting of places where I can buy reading material of my choice as censorship...one of the worst abuses of power.

Actually, pretty much ALL stores limit what you can read, unless it's a bookstore or a library. That's all I meant Andy.

Fred Meyer isn't obligated to stock and sell what any one of us WANTS to read. It doesn't mean they are blocking it, they are just choosing not to sell it. Big difference.

I understand that...and also do not like it.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record :
Limiting my reading choices is a form of control and censorship..
Control of information can be a abuse of power...

My ability to read has:
Taken me to many different lands...
Shown me new ideas...
Given me more understanding of the world around me...
Inspired me to ideas and thoughts of my own...

To have that taken away or limited in scope of where I can read , what I can read or where I buy my reading material is very disturbing to me.

I buy them there frequently. They have a decent handgun selection where I live and my wife works there so I get a 15% discount all the time plus 10% more on the almost unknown veterans discount day. I'll keep buying them there. I walk out the door paying less than they paid for them especially when they are on sale. I think I paid $350 for my Glock 19.

Maybe if some of the very people who are responsible for pulling these magazines from the shelves actually picked one up and gained some of the education provided inside, they might just learn what guns are actually capable and incapable of.

Andy, I'm not trying to argue with you.

If tomorrow, for example, Fred Meyer executives decided that since Toys R Us is going under they are going to revamp their business model and ONLY sell toys that's their CHOICE as an organization. They are not obligated to stock ANYTHING that you or me or anyone else here likes or deems as necessary to US. They can do whatever they want with their business model.

If Fred Meyer was a federally funded organization (or heck even a private one for that matter) that was solely or mainly operated to distribute magazines, books and other reading materials then I could see your point. But they aren't.

LOL now that's funny!

In your situation, with your wife working there, I can see how that would be an advantage.
