Oh, ifish still occasionally. Occasionally, as ifish was the first local, large site to talk fishing. I quit the habit though and don't visit a lot. There's too many tight-arses there too.

Gave up on iFish
The firearms community likes to welcome people to the hobby it seems The more of us, the better kind of thing. Fisherman don't want to share info so much. They're selfish, afraid you'll get one of "their" fish. There were guys on the river that wouldn't tell you how much weight they were using to stay on the bottom. Or what depth they were running lures at.

4Chan and Pornhub...

Wow, not my experience at all... I'm a lifelong fisherman, been on fishing discussion boards since the beginning, and found that fisherman are some of the friendliest and informative guys out there (unless you live in the same area and want to know about someone else's honey hole).

Fisherman are way better than 4-wheel drive off-road enthusiasts.

I had a great group of guys that I hung around on the river with. Guys that I looked forward to seeing in the different fisheries throughout the years. Standing in ice water in Dec for winter steelhead at the mouth of clear Creek at first light. Then with the boat, guys that I'd met in a certain area/hog line that were open to people and friendly. (As long as you didn't stupid stuff and mess up their line anyway.) I did run into some real lu-lu's though over the years. But then I had a riveted boat. Seemed "Riveted Boats" didn't get no respect! Among all the $25K plus boats out there.

Kind of surprised to hear the off roader guys were dicks? Guess they don't want to get into the out-back and find someone there before them? Like fishermen?

To us, it seemed to get real bad out on the river with a lack of common courtesy, and boats getting bigger/heavier. Like, watch your wake A-hole. And the more your boat costs makes you believe you own more water.

Man, I noticed this when I took an Alumacraft I inherited from my dad out for the first time... when I backed up to the launch, guys were looking at me like I was bringing a Ford Pinto to a classic car cruise. I coulda brought the 40K bass boat, but no...

Primarily one brand-name forum that looked down on any foreign makers or anything but original Jeeps, Broncos or Blazers... the guys on the forum were all totally attuned to seniority dates of members and what they owned... tended to dismiss questions from newer members and those like me who confessed to owning a Toyota and a Land Rover...

The problem, as you note, that we have on our waterways and lakes now is that people are taking bigger, more powerful boats out on bodies of water than cannot support the traffic, the speeds, the wakes and the disruption of the fishing. And don't get me started on jet-skiis on small fishing lakes...

But still, I've found that the real fisherman are those willing to share what they know with people they don't even know, they just want to promote the sport and have everyone be successful. I find most people who fish are some of the most patient, calmest and friendliest folks I've ever met.

Other than this one I frequent The Firearms Forum as I have been a member since it started (over 20 years ago) but it has been taking an 'odd turn' for a while and I am not posting as much. They are pretty strict with moderation overall but tend to 'pick and choose' what content they moderate. Plus if I want to 'hear' or need any 'preaching' I'll go to a church.

I occasionally peruse Shooters Forum, Marlin Forum and the S & W forum if I have a question or want info on something specific.

The only forum I regularly participate in is here - not enough time in the day to do more. I will scan through others if I'm looking for information about a specific topic - AR15 and weapons guild, for example.
