The caliber and make didn't do crap, the presence of a firearm in the hand of someone willing to use it is what saved her bacon. Glad it worked out.

You know, I have chuckled at all the "caliber-wars" that I've seen all over the interwebs. How .380 is too weak, .32? Don't even think about it, .22? What, are you insane? The gun, the caliber that fits you and you are comfortable with and shoot well, that's the one for you to carry. I used to work with a guy that survived 5, .45acp rounds in the torso in Vietnam. And I have heard that more people die from .22lr than any other caliber. In this case, just being painted with that laser was enough to stop the threat.

So for the second time in about a month my daughter has had to pull her pistol. The first time an ex-boyfriend broke into her apt. She put a laser on his forehead until the police arrived to haul his @$$ off.
Yesterday she was in the Beaverton Costco parking lot when a very large, black, crackhead tried to break the window of her car to get to her. The little Keltec p32 has a crimson trace mounted on it. Apparently the p.o.s. wasn't too thrilled to find a red dot over his heart and ran into the store. She called the police, told them what had transpired, that she was armed, and that she would remain that way until they arrived. Said when she saw them drive up she would unload her piece, place it on the dash and have her hands up when they approached. Two Beaverton officers showed up, located and arrested the guy. They said they were glad she had her weapon with her as this guy was very high and in Superman mode. They escorted her to Cornelius Pass and told her to keep her weapon loaded and next to her on the seat until she got home. She told me she was ready and willing to shoot the guy, and it was a very sickening feeling.
Another happy ending for a well trained and awake lady shooter, who just happens to be my little girl.:)
p.s. don't scoff at .32acp or Keltec. Has saved her bacon twice now:cool:. Oh, and lasers work!
I have never seen Problems at a costco . If he ran inside the building he must have had a costco card. Years ago they used to be picky i had to show state assumed biz ID Ect ect ect . Now anyone with 50 bucks gets in. The savings were much better back in the 80s.but much smaller selection . A preppers peridice for food.

Nor do I think the guy counting heads at the door is going to do much more than call security if someone like that runs into the huge bay door.

Maybe his mom has a membership...

Not really, all you need to do is go in thru the exit, any says anything simply replay, "I'm going to the customer service counter". Did just that three days and dozens of times before.

I wonder if this stuff ever happens to the antigun woman .
Or if they just send the maid shopping.

as the boyfriend, him breaking in, fixing a meal and making himself at home - he obviously didn't take her seriously nor believe her. Either he didn't know she owned a pistol, was that stupid to think she wouldn't use it, or truly believed her to be that manipulable.
Not being there, I'm just armchair quarterbacking.
I agree boyfriend didn't take woman seriously. However, I think only a small minority of young men take young women seriously. And most learn to fake taking a woman seriously quite well long before they grow up for real and actually do, if ever they do. So most women at some point have the experience of having to quit a relationship with a guy who is going to challenge her ability to have the strength to end the relationship if he does not want to. Such a guy will invariably show up uninvited at least once, even if woman has made it totally clear she doesnt want to see him again. And if woman lets him in, it's a huge mistake. Woman needs to have changed lock and have a latch on the door as well as a gun in case door is broken down or guy breaks in. Most disrespectful guys will accept relationship is over only after they have shown up on the womans doorstep unexpected and found themselves ordered to leave through latched door, and told that if he doesn't leave she is calling the cops. Most guys will not go as far as to break in when they don't have a key. So this was a pretty extreme expression of contempt for the woman as well as declaration he considered the apartment still his. She handled it remarkably well, I thought.

She is not member here, but feel free to shower me with congratulations and applause!:)
Congratulations, bivy53.

Many men are fierce about protecting their wives and children, but utterly impractical as to how. They imagine the family being attacked, the wife and children huddled behind them. Reality is, women are most likely to be attacked when they are slone. You protected your daughter in the way that matters most. You taught her to protect herself. Well done!

???You're thinking all antigun women are rich enough to have servants? Not so. I've known plenty of antigun women, and I think this bubblegum happens to them much more than to gun totin women. Owning, knowing how to use, and carrying a gun changes you fundamentally. You simply don't signal helplessness the way helpless women do, and for a very simple reason. You arent helpless. And when a bad guy is too dumb to pick up on the signals, the outcome is so much more likely to be in the gun totin womans favor.

Yup. A red dot beats a red hole, especially if YOU are one wearing it.

When I was a kid, I talked to a deputy who said in 22 years, he never had to draw his gun.

Fast forward 25 years and Im in my 14th year and my gun comes out several times every month. Things are different.

That right there is a huge reason I did not get into law enforcement. I did the cadet program in 08-09, and I saw just how little respect for police there was. Things have only gotten progressively worse for the men and women in blue since then.

Good for her but bad for her that she had to take those actions.

I wish my wife would take heed and train.

Once, after my wife had begun carrying, while on a trip to Seattle, I asked her if she had her pistol with her. She replied that she knew I was armed and that she figured that was good enough. I gently scolded her and said, "what if I go down, then what?" She immediately got the point. We need to be there for each other, and always for yourself. Two is one and one is none.

Even more likely is that sometimes you will be separated. Running different errands. One resting in camp while the other hikes an extra loop. In womens rooms. So both must be armed so that woman will not sometimes be alone and unarmed.

This is an excellent point and so often over looked. I do not know but I think that lots of women have made the cognitive-perceptual shift towards potential threats, but so many are just so naive and lean on the guy. Or, some look down on the guy that is armed. I also think that lots of women just do not comprehend that many alpha males are raised to be "protective" and "respectful" of women and would go to great aggressive extents to protect the women that they care for or other women in need or their children. These women frequently assume that protection is a male thing, and ignore their own self-responsibility.

I speak from experience on this matter on alpha male protection. My now 30 yo daughter, when 7.5 years old was assaulted in the public schools and I spent 5 years tracking down the cover up and the records, and was perceived as a bully by my ex and her friends; just did not comprehend paternal protection of a father.

I know of many women that live in risky parts of Portland when rapes and home invasions occur, but would never think or entertain the idea of having a firearm in their house. Just awful, because their neighborhood assaults, and home intrusions occur way too frequently. Lots of people have dogs in their homes and security doors and windows in the NE. Tells you a lot. Many ignore their self responsibility for protection.
