On another note, I'd never heard of a "skywalk" before reading the article. Googlefoo yielded a map of the Des Moines Skywalk system. It appears to encompass a cluster of more than 35 city blocks, and is described as 4.2 miles of climate-controlled walkway connecting 12 parking ramps and 55 buildings housing typical downtown business activities (lodging, dining, shopping, banking, as well as venues for arts, culture, and sporting events). In short, it sounds like a nightmare for safety & security, in spite of claims that it is "quite safe".
