Being a younger guy (29) I still get carded all the time for alcohol and most large chain grocery stores DO type your birthday into the computer.
I'm sure it's their legal department and if they did accidentally sell to a minor they can go back through the security tape and they have a record of the actual birthday on the drivers license that was used to make the purchase.
It's one of the few places you can buy alcohol, tobacco and firearms all in one stop!Hey, there's not many places left where you can get some cinderblocks, a big screen TV, a lawn chair and some 00 buck so show a little respect. lol
That makes sense. I worked the door at a place on St. Paddy's day and I hadn't bartended for a few years so I was surprised that kids born in 1996 are now old enough to drink. It was mostly an older crowd so I didn't have to check that many ID's.As someone who works in management for one of those big chain grocery stores, the only time I actually key in the birthdate is when they are really close to 21 to help me make sure I'm doing my math right. Stores don't usually challenge the stings since the police and the OLCC are pretty thorough. The police cite the employee and the company if I'm not mistaken and then the company fires them.
If any of you need .22LR and want to take a beautiful drive out to Banks, I have 20-40 boxes of CCI coming in weekly. 68 boxes on my table right now. I don't need to record any of your information, just verify age and will charge you $0.50 over wholesale to cover my costs. I am available until 9 PM tonight, enjoying a rare day off from my day job to get ready for a few projects.
I'm assuming this is correct and I agree with the response.Since my local Cornelius Walmart does sell guns, I know it has a FFL, but individual stores might vary. As far as seeing my ID and recording my DOB, I don't mind, just don't add identifying info. They are likely are 1) just making sure the clerk checked your ID, or 2) gathering some demographic info, or 3) both.
***********************************************************************Yes, apparently that's a new policy that started today. To buy ammo, you need to show a photo ID and they DO keep a record of the date of birth of the person buying the ammo.
I tried understanding why, the guy said it is either a new law that went into effect or a new Walmart policy (which he said is called AA06 or AAO6, don't remember), that requires that. He didn't really know exactly, he seemed to be just following policy.
He also said Walmart is most likely going to get out of the business of selling ammo, because apparently the govt wants them to become FFLs (I'd thought they were all along but maybe not).
Hmmm... That's interesting as I used to own and run a small country store that carried ammo and I was required to have an FFL even if I didn't sell guns (which I later did but only on special order) so I'm not sure that the Wally World employee actually knew what he was talking about. Not unusual, methinks, but they usually have good prices on ammo...Yes, apparently that's a new policy that started today. I went to a local Walmart and talked to an employee. He told me that an associate somewhere sold pistol ammo to an underage person and Walmart was being sued.
Yeah, I learned long ago that the people behind the counter at Walmart don't really know what they are talking about. Let me share how I came by this realization.<snip>
At this point both employees kinda stormed off, and I was left standing there feeling a little bit defeated. I was about to give up and walk off when a kindly, older gentlemen who had been watching the exchange approached us, said his son had a particular one on his 91/30, and suggested that it might be a good one to try. With tears of gratitude, frustration, and joy in my eyes, I purchased that one and escaped Walmart never to return again. (Ok, well I wish the last part was true. I've been there more times then I can remember, but I did at least learn a valuable lesson about asking for information from employees there).
I have a feeling they type in the DOB to calculate how old the person is suppose to be, much like they way the let the register tell them how much change to give back. It freaks most cashiers out if you hand them a large bill and change so you don't get back pennies or other change after they seen what the change was suppose to be from just the bill you handed them. I rarely get a cashier that counts change back, most just hand you the change and look at you funny as you count it, and often correct them, to get the right change, and they really don't know what to do if they gave you too much.
Last I heard it was about limiting the amount of .22 ammo one could purchase from them in a day... since there were complaints and such about the limited supply and hoarding... I'd shop someplace else regardless. Their prices aren't good anyway, at least not from what I saw.
I know, they should go to Bi-Mart, which hasn't had .22lr since 1942 thanks to the scalping neckbeards. lol
LOL, nobody knows how to do simple math anymore.LOL, long ago back when you pumped gas then went to pay. I stop at some stop'n rob. Pump $10, walk in hand some cute VERY young girl a $20. She is getting all kinds of bills out. I thought maybe she had no 10's. I count it as I head to door. She had given me $17 back. For a half a second I thought of walking on. Thought they would probably take it out of kids pay. so go back tell her you gave me too much change. She did what they used to teach in the old days. Put the money back and started again. This time she hands me $13, getting better here. I counted it right there and said, this is still too much. Honey I bought $10 in gas and gave you a $20. 10 and 10 is 20. She got all flustered and red but gave me a 10 this time. I doubt she had a job there by the end of the day.
