I use 3" or 4" screws to hold the jamb hardware (striker plates and hinges) on my exterior doors. I slip a piece of 1/8" x 3" flat bar in between the layers of the jamb and framing so the deadbolt engages the flat bar. I drill the flat bar for the long screws, so they can't bend far before engaging the steel reinforcement.

No one has put these to the test, but I believe they will put up a strong resistance. The door framing is stacked 2 x 6's.
