George Washington (February 22, 1732 (N.S.) – December 14, 1799) was an American political leader, military general, statesman, and founding father who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. Previously, he led Patriot forces to victory in the nation's War for Independence. He presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which established the U.S. Constitution
and a federal government. Washington has been called the "Father of His Country" for his manifold leadership in the formative days of the new nation.
Washington received his initial military training and command with the Virginia Regiment during the French and Indian War. He was later elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses and was named a delegate to the Continental Congress, where he was appointed Commanding General of the Continental Army. He commanded American forces, allied with France, in the defeat and surrender of the British during the Siege of Yorktown. He resigned his commission after the Treaty of Paris in 1783.
Washington played a key role in adopting and ratifying the Constitution and was then elected president (twice) by the Electoral College. He implemented a strong, well-financed national government while remaining impartial in a fierce rivalry between cabinet members Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. During the French Revolution, he proclaimed a policy of neutrality while sanctioning the Jay Treaty. He set enduring precedents for the office of president, including the title "Mr. President", and his Farewell Address is widely regarded as a pre-eminent statement on republicanism.
Washington owned slaves, and, in order to preserve national unity, he supported measures passed by Congress to protect slavery. He later became troubled with the institution of slavery and freed his slaves in a 1799 will. He endeavored to assimilate Native Americans into Anglo-American culture but combated indigenous resistance during occasions of violent conflict. He was a member of the Anglican Church and the Freemasons, and he urged broad religious freedom in his roles as general and president. Upon his death, he was eulogized as "first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen". He has been memorialized by monuments, art, geographical locations, stamps, and currency, and many scholars and polls rank him among the greatest U.S. presidents.

What is up, everybody?
So, I “pulled the trigger” and signed up for my first shooting match.
Going to the Practical Pistol at DDRC on April 1st.
Any advice is welcome as I have zero experience with competitive shooting.
What to take? How many rounds? What to expect?
Attached is the picture...
I use the word build loosely here. As the internals are mostly stock. But I shot it quite a bit and changed it little by little until I was happy with it. Haven’t had anyone to compare it to since I only have one other friend with an AR. I’m actually not sure what model this is, but it started...
Years ago I rattle canned a shotgun for duck hunting that has held up well and still looks great after almost 40 years. With that in mind, I prepped a magazine and practiced on it first and then got serious on my coleman water bottle. Satisfied the gun wouldn’t turn out like azz, I did a...
Hello,
My taste in firearms actually leans towards single shots and bolt actions, but I want to add an AR to have some experience with the platform. I bought a bunch of mags before the high capacity mag ban with 300 BO/300 HAMR in mind, so I am covered on that front, but it seems like I should...
By buddy @Tweezy is new to guns is looking for his first CCW in 9mm.
Let's give him a warm and well-informed welcome and help him find his best option.
I've heard nothing but good things about the 43X, but I don't have one myself.
Is the red dot worth the juice...?🤔
I have an old G33 I love...
A roughly 9x5x2 zippered pouch using this tutorial https://sarkirsten.com/pouch-pattern-calculator
But no lining, no interfacing, and instead of the triangle technique, I cut rectangles out and bound the 4 vertical seams in Coyote brown binding tape. One solid piece of fabric versus 5-6 seen on...
I finally bit the bullet. I have had a bunch of ak mags I bought before the WA ban took effect and even have a KS47 build, but I have been holding out on an AK purchase for some reason. I have shot several of my buddies different AK’s but never have owned one myself. With more legislation...
Hello everyone, hope you're having a great weekend. Bummer about the Seahawks but we all saw that L coming. So, there isn't really anywhere clearly defined for me to post my current issues/questions so I'll just give it a shot here and if you want to point me in a better direction, please do so...
If you have had a can go down range, you know!
Was putting some rounds through the Salvo and it decided to launch itself at the target.
Recall that scene from A Christmas Story where Ralphie drops the lug nuts while helping his dad change the tire.
Ffffffuuuuudddgggeee!
Ya, that slow...
I'm helping my friend out to pick his first rifle. He wants a bolt action 223 and has a budget of maybe 700$ to 800$ with the glass. I've given him a few recommendations but always looking for more input. Better yet, if someone has a good budget bolt for a first gun owner let me know. I've...
