A C-130 might be theoretically capable of taking off from a carrier, but if that carrier is stationed off the East Coast of the USA (as it was in the movie) it sure as heck isnt going to be able to fly from the North Atlantic all the way to a base in South Korea without refueling. Several times. Same deal with taking off from South Korea and flying all the way back to Israel. Just like the guns in movies that never seem to run out of bullets, the airplanes seem to be able to fly about 10 times farther in the movies than they can in real life.

LOL...Apologies for sounding like I was supporting Hollywood's lies...His question made me research it, and that was what I found...Not something I would ever want to do, that's for sure. In fact, I believe that was the beginning of the JATO days, I saw those in action before they quit using it...That made a Herc leap into the air, it was amazing.

But yeah, movies are full of bubblegum. I was just surprised to find out they had actually done it.

The movie was ok for an action flick.

The thing that really hit home for me is how quickly things can go downhill if someone can design a virus that is able to attack its host so fast. I think (or hope rather) that we are decades behind that sort of virus, but you never know.

It definitely makes you think about how you'd react if a virus of this sort, or any sort really, were to start taking it's toll on the populous.

I do love these sorts of movies though. They convince the wife that we need to get more 'prep' stuff. HA!

The story had LOADS of plot manipulations simply so the director could introduce more CGI effects, and the premise that Badd Pitt was the only man on earth that could escort a scientist to Korea and that this VITAL detail only had 4-6 SEALS as body guards and that the VIP was given a Glock was the start of my disbelief then for Pitt to survive the crash of an airliner, haveing a serious wound that barely slows him down so that he can enter a maze of a laboratory where he leaves his weapons behind plus leaves doors open injects an unknown toxin into himself,,,,idiotic

Not theoretically....for carrier ops with a C-130. Apparently the ops were quIte successfuL but yeah, worst flight of my life was 21.5 hours on a C-141 on jumps seats NAS Whidbey to Nas Sigonella, Sicily . I think we tanked 2-3 times. Froze my arrrse off wearing khakis. So be dang sure I took the Navy C-9 back to whidbey. Your gas mileage may vary.

Brutus out.

Well, I liked the book, but seeing the previews made it clear enough that it is nothing like the book. First of all, they are not even the same kind of zombies. They were standard slow-moving z's in the book, not 28 days rage zombies. Second, there is one continuous story with a main character. I am still planning on seeing it, just not expecting what the book was about.

Now, I think this might be the first time I will have to try to convince my wife to see a Brad Pitt movie.

I watched the movie... I want that part of my life back...

I'm an obsessive zombie fanatic who loves almost everything zombie.
Having said that, every part of this movie was absolutely sh!t.

They were standard slow-moving z's in the book, not 28 days rage zombies.

They aren't rage zombies, rage zombies just run fast... These are Day of the Dead 2008 running 40mph upside down on the ceiling zombies. Undead hardcore parkour experts sprinkled with fairy dust and trained by crouching tigers and hidden dragons.

Neither of the I am legend flicks was up to the book, IMHO. Richard Matheson painted a man who was a fraction of an inch from the edge of insanity! And remember, the book was written decades ago (1953)!

It is probably not good to spent money to watch movies. Money is power spend it wisely.

I enjoy the theatre big screen experience, so I am willing to pay to see a quality movie.
I don't like walking out of a theatre feeling that the movie wasn't worth the admission fee.

I wouldn't trade lives with Pitt for a minute. Pretty much bonded to the headcase on a level that supersedes marriage and his flock of Asian adoptions. He had the whole world as his oyster and then gets roped into being Mr Mom for life.

In contrast, this gentleman, was much smarter. When he saw the route his relationship with the headcase was going, he bailed umm hmm. He may not be a pretty as Pitt but he is one heck of a lot wiser.
