Time & place yadayada. I OC when its just convenient or in a fairly permissive environment. I conceal most of the time. If I print I print. I have stood in line at stores, gas pumps, or eaten in nice resturants and Most folk don't even notice. Those that did - so what? I have had non related interactions with LE (game wardens checking tags, city cop responding to traffic accident, county cop I stopped and asked directions from to name a few) zero guff from them. Couple questions about the guns (an XD when they were new, CZ cuz the cop had never seen one in person, etc) some compliments.

I am sure if I oc'd 24/7 and spent my time i Portland or Seattle I may wind up as subject of a MWAG call but in 15 years so far of carrying a gun, its never happened. I have only had a couple folk make snarky comments - "jeez what do you fish fir that needs a gun!" Or "man, why you carryin' a piece" - the last incident like that came while carrying openly in Washington and I walked into a chevron to grab coffee & a snack. Thats it. No one freaked out and no one called the cops. Of course in that case I was workig and I was dressed professionally and could give an articulate reason why. The time fishing - I was grabbing lunch at the Lee's Camp store when it was open, just after the Californian couple had bought it and taken over. I mentioned the tweakers you find on the river and that was that.

OC is not appropriate at all times and places, and I am less personally opposed (for lack of a better term) to OC of a pistol than a long gun. Tactical Ted the Tardo who straps on his AR or AK to walk the streets of Portland just makes me cringe and shake my head. OC of long arms is just not socially acceptable here and just scares the piss out of people in general and puts a target on all of us gun owners from the ruling class.

So yeah - OC is OK with me. Just please do it smartly and don't be a douche about it.

I will say this. If you open carry, don't do it in the XD starter kit. Buy some decent leather and a good belt and for gods sake carry a spare mag on your belt in a carrier as well.

I open carry sometimes because my shirt isnt really concealing anything. Whats the point? So I don't scare people? Yeah, thats something I'm concerned about.

I open carry often, and even though there are plenty antigun folk in the city next to mine none of them complain. They don't even care, as long as you aren't doing anything crazy.

But I am a clown. Everyone knows you can trust a clown.
