Nah, I moved to a very rural location on purpose. I have supplies and I am set up to be relatively off the grid. I have friends who are armed who are well known in the community. Some of them are good friends with law enforcement. Since I'm a physician in a small town with only one clinic, I am treating everyone extremely well so that I am positioned as someone important if SHTF. They wont be killing they guy that saved their grandma from pneumonia. I dont have kids, My wife knows how to use weapons. Most of my close neighbors are elderly and frail (I know because they are also my patients). Antifa isnt here, they would be protesting to cows

Im really not worried about my community coming after me. I think we will band together quite well to help each other.

Yes, I could be prepping better and be more off the grid. But I moved out of Portland for several reasons and this possible future was one of them.

The only ones I dont trust are the entitled white people and the ones addicted to pain meds. They are going to get a little squirrely. But they are all very liberal and very unarmed.

So I've done some thinking about this.

I don't think the government shutdown will continue to the end of January, but if it does watch for possible instability if some don't get their expected money from various social-welfare programs.

A bunch of political theater, nothing more than a game of chicken to see who will flinch first. Honestly, unless he has something else in mind, some other kind of deal, I don't see Trump giving in. He could really care less how the shutdown might affect him, because I don't think he believes it does. Chuck and Nancy however, well they are going to answer to a lot of voters that get their paychecks from government. If anyone does flinch, I expect it to be them. But again, Trump and those two could work out some entirely different deal we can't even picture yet.

As for some kind of civil unrest? I don't see it, not on any great scale. There won't be any uprising against the government. No 2nd civil war. And while it sucks my suppressors are being further delayed, if that's what it takes to get some movement on this issue, so be it, I'll wait.

Until then, I'll continue to enjoy the political theater as Chuck and Nancy scramble to deal with a guy that doesn't do politics the way they do.

When we have two polarized parties we get :

"Bind" followers of the same...
No one willing budge or work together...
Only the extreme ideas of each party pushed into forefront...

We end up with a standstill and nothing done....It reminds me of the playground squabbles that my grade school students get into.
Only this "playground" is my country and the bad behavior shown by my elected officials has a far longer lasting effect and quite possibly a more dangerous one as well.

People across the nation that don't live in a border state can have all the compassion in the world because it doesn't directly affect them. People that do live in a border states and deny there needs to be a better barrier are delusional.

But any permanent fixture is only part of a solution. In itself it is not enough, but, only the left is pushing that argument that a wall won't work. The loudest opponents usually live behind a wall with security patrols.

I am not sure about anything yet but we were discussing at work yesterday section 8 housing and EBT cards if that will get paid or not. Not sure if the landlords of section 8 housing will start evicting people or not. If not expect things get very interesting very quickly. A lot of people are dependant on the Federal government.
