Reminds me of the time I found a 1961 Austin Healy Sprite for sale.
It was rough, but I loved it.
Everything about it said "Boy Racer".
Stipped to the bones, it was so simple. So Pure.
I got in it. It still had that "English Sportscar" smell.
...then I looked up, only to see the top frame of the windshield right at eye level....and it was at that point, I knew it would never be mine. :(

I'm 6'1" with shoes on, and when I first got it I weighed 350+… I could not drive it with the top up. It was also very difficult to get in and out. The trick is Legs are last to go in and first to come out..l can't just sep in like most cars. I've since had ankle surgery and lost about 70 pounds so it's not nearly as bad… I'm actually really comfortable in it now. however if I have the top up I have to duck to see traffic lights. If it's down it's a non issue..

I'm 5'11" and bounce between 260 and 280.
In 2000, my mom bought a '99 toyota Corolla 4-door (so you can imagine how small those entrances are).
I was like you. I HATED that car. I could never get in or get out without having to go through a gold medal winning gymnastics performance.
I finally figured out to do it like you do. Sit & Spin. Legs first in and first out.
Mom passed away about a year and a half ago. I took ownership of the car a few years ago, when she got too old to drive (I was her caretaker for approx. her last 10 years).
I still have it. It's my "work car" these days and getting in and out is not even a second thought anymore.

I recently picked up a 1999 Ford Escort for my commute. My 2019 F350 diesel was killing me, $800 per month in diesel alone. This little sh!t box gets double the mpg and regular gas is about 20% less per gallon than diesel. Got a great deal from a friend, it only has 58k on it and even power everything and working ac. It doesn't attract any attention either, as the color is Hearing Aid Beige. Pics of this on request only, I don't want to make anyone jealous. 😁

Very simple, easy to work on, cheap and plentiful parts, massive aftermarket support. And even with a modest 120 horsepower… it is Soooo fun to drive.
WRONG.
A '69 Ford Pickup with a straight six is easy to work on.
NOTHING made in the 80's or 90's was (or still is) easy to work on.
Trust me. Been there, did that for a living.

I will never..ever, ever, ever, ever,.. debate against a Ford 300 straight six… no fair!!!!!

ETA: oranges and apples……
drive any Ford equipped with said 300 I-6 around a curvy mountain road… none will compare to the 50-50 distribution, hp/weight , and overall $ to experience of anything out there.. farting around the curves, and fixing the probs..NA Miata for the win.
A mid 70's to early 80's f-150 with 300 i6 is the shiz, and until you have owed and operated, one you can't hang… Pulling load and fixing probs… 300 for the win….

...there's a reason that most of the lighter commercial trucks are Fords......and this coming from a GM guy!
I'd rather drive a Chevy, but if I have to maintain a fleet for a living, PLEASE make it a fleet of Fords!

My old 78 Chevy k20 ..... ol brown it has never let me down I love driving it but I hate putting fuel in lol

That diesel and Mogas will be cheaper for farmer Browm, planting and harvesting his crops. Of course, he'll sell them for the same price as last year

Not as much you seem to be alluding to.
I just picked up some home heating oil and only saved 50¢ / gallon. That would be the "farmer price" too.
