Please yourself & not your buddies at work. I hate to see people who are all into keepin up with Mr. Tacticool but inside wishing they hadn't spent a small fortune....o_O
Yep for price his buddy's paid for all the BCM stuff on there guns he could buy 2.000 rounds of ammo and when they run out because they could only buy 250 rounds he could still be shooting

Nope they shoot the hell out of theirs.Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking them at all. I'm just so new to the AR word just wanting to make sure I have a dependable weapon. For fun shooting and the SHTF scenario. And actually it's really only one friend that knocks my Sport. But he has deep pockets for gun fund. I do not.

Practice and learn to outshoot him with your M&P. He will feel like a dick in no time.

Here's what I did to my Ruger AR556 (about the same price as the Sport). I added a Trijicon MRO, Fenix 900 lumen tactical light with pressure switch, Magpul hand guard and a magwell hand grip. My home defense rifle!

That M&P will shoot for many years and some upgrades will go along way in making it look sweet. Good luck in whatever you decide but, gun porn is mandatory after any changes. :)

Hey really new to the forum. I have a M&P Sport but want to up grade to something different looking at the Rogue Defense or Anderson. Any and all input welcome. Would like a BCM but I'm on a budget so need to keep cost down. Even any input about the M&P is welcome.

Here are a few what style you looking for I will find a pic by itself.

I have added a few more after this pic was taken. I use the Brovo Company Mod 3 grip on all of mine and if you find a Springfield saint at a store you can see how they feel the Magpul grip is on a lot of factory guns as well.

So of all the AR junkies that have posted on my thread. What AR do you have and let's see some pictures.

I was in your same situation about 3 years ago. I purchased a m&p from a gun show and friends told me it wasn't a great gun because it wasn't the expensive $2000 ar they bought. Put a ton of ammo through it, it is a great gun. I started buying bits and pieces to upgrade. It really turns into a terrible cycle though, because you buy a few parts and then realize you can put together a whole extra gun cheaply with the old parts and a few more parts. I ended up with 4 gun built on the AP platform by the time it was all done. I really suggest shooting your, go to gun shows and put your hands on accessories before you buy them.

my favorite upgrades
hogue rubber coated grips feel great for shooting
holosun red dot was a great value for a great red dot
Mission First Tactical minimalist butt stock
the ar pistol that shoots .22 is a pant load of fun to plink with

.22 pistol configuration, polymer upper and lower with crimson trace laser as the only sight

M&P upper and lower with .223wylde barrel, this is my long range fun gun

This is Frankengun, it is pretty much any left over parts got thrown together to make this one, has the barrel and butt stock from the M&P

This is my favorite of the set, custom ground and polished trigger hardware done by a local gun shop, free float hand guard, hollosun red dot, fat man break (probably my favorite part it is very loud and blows back allot of pressure on anyone around you)

My AR-10 spikes tactical upper and lower with a wilson chrome lined barrel 1/10 twist

M&P only upgrade is the troy free float handguard

My first build with the Anderson NWFA lower and a complete Anderson upper which now has a vortex red dot on it.

So of all the AR junkies that have posted on my thread. What AR do you have and let's see some pictures.
I don't have pictures, but I do have a story about tacticooling my S&W that you might like.

It started out as a plain-Jane Smith & Weson M&P 15. It had an EOTech sight on it when I bought it, but I added a MagPul flip-up rear sight (the gun already had an A2 front sight) in case the battery died and also so that I could practice shooting iron sights. I'm still happy with both sights and they are both still on the gun.

A few months later I decided it needed a facelift, so I added a Magpul stock and forened. It improved the looks of the gun dramatically. The new stock didn't rattle like the factory one, and the new forend gave me multiple mount points for picaninny rails.

A few months later I decided to upgrade the trigger. Why spend $50 when you can spend $200, so I installed a Geissele SSA trigger. I watched their installation video, which is I think about 30 minutes long, and installed it in less that 10. It was hands-down the most effective upgrade I've done to the gun. Unless you have horrible sights, a trigger upgrade will usually provide the biggest improvement in accuracy.

A few months later I came across a Sig vertical forend grip with integral flashlight and trigger switch at a really good price. It made the gun look even more badass, but because it was angled and shaped just like the pistol grip, I couldn't grab it as quickly as I liked. Still, it looked really cool.

A few months later I decided that a laser would make the rifle a better home defense gun. I picked up a LaserMax low profile laser and a remote switch. With the help of a Cross Tac bayonet mount to picatinny adapter, I attached the laser below the barrel and behind the flash hider. The gun was more fun that ever now, and even a little cooler looking than before, if you looked close.

A few months later I decided that a home defense rifle should have a sling. I found one on clearance at Midway USA (I think there is always a sling on clearance at Midway USA) and spent a few hours figuring out how to attach it to my A2 sling mount when I have bunch of other crap mounted around it. Boy, oh boy did that thing look tactical now. I showed it to a buddy of mine who owns a gun store and told him that I figured my project was complete. I finally had it set up the way I liked. He looked it over and said "Needs a Hogue grip". He showed my one and after I took it out of the packaging and gripped it a few times, it became clear that the gun did indeed need a Hogue grip. He had an extra long Allen wrench so I changed the grip out on his counter. At last my project was complete.

A few months later I decided that the vertical forend grip was kind of a pain and not really needed. I still wanted a light though, so I needed to figure something out. It turns out that the LaserMax laser mounted under my bayonet lug had male picatinny on the top and female picatinny on the bottom (that's right, it had to be mounted upside down). I could attach a picatinny mounted flashlight directly below the laser. By now the accessories mounted to the gun roughly equaled the value of the gun, so I was a little reluctant to run out and buy a $300 flashlight to stick on the end of it. Fortunately, UTG had a decent looking light for well under $100, so I went with that.

A few months later, the UTG light went belly up, just as I should have expected. I found a Fenix light for a lot more money and replaced the broken light with it. With proven reliable accessories mounted everywhere and the gun still great fun to shoot, my project was now complete.

A few years later, I completed another AR build and was curious how the upper from the new build would shoot with the S&W lower, so I swapped it over. I've really been enjoying shooting it this way, and the upper has been on there for quite a while now. I'm not sure how long it will stay there, but I'm sure I can find some fancy crap to hang on it in the meantime. ;)

If a BCM is what you really want, I would save my pennies until I had enough to get one. Your M&P Sport is a solid weapon and is should serve you very well until you get the BCM. To that end, I wouldn't spend any additional money modifying the Sport if it's not ultimately what you want. I might even consider selling the Sport when the time comes to help fund the BCM. But the M&P could serve as a very nice backup to the BCM too, as it's always nice to have a backup.

Thanks for the pics of AR's I went ahead and make a different turn in what I bought. I went with a 9mm JR carbine. In keeping with the other firearms I have which are 9mm as well. I really like the gun and it fits me rather well. Thanks again
