When Gun Laws Cause An Exodus From A State - Bearing Arms
The damn problem is Anti-gunners follow. Any place that has left people alone to prosper, the place of course prospers. Anti-gunners who want to control everything of course turn the places they run into sewers. So the ones who have means of course move to the nice place. Then as soon as they set up there they start pushing the same crap that turned the last place they live to crap. Human nature. Socialism (no matter what they call it) has never worked anywhere in history. Yet there is no end to those who want to try it since they will "do it right" and create utopia. <shrug>
I'm ready. Where are we going?
Idaho is full. Just keep driving.
I am chained down.
In-laws are here, her career is here.
Don't expect to send any message besides "you win" by moving. The antis will be thrilled to see you go. No they won't miss your tax dollars and other contributions you made to the State. They'll have plenty of antis moving in to fill your spot.
Staying and following the "We will not comply" movement, maybe moving to a SAPO county will be more bothersome to them. Of course you'll risk going to jail so you'll have to consider that.
If that isn't the sad, sad truth. And the lawmakers that push Socialism in the US are old enough that most of them will be gone by the time the country turns to Venezuela!
I would welcome the hardcore 2A supporters from WA and CA to move here to Oregon if the migration was strategic. For example if they would move to districts where races are still close to 50/50.
I'm old and I just don't feel like moving anymore. I moved here to escape Kalifornia about seven years ago because I was burned out from years of fighting the socialist insanity.
This was to be my forever home. I cared for my late wife here and I'm not going anywhere.
Josephine County has a SAPO and some pretty pissed off patriots. I'm gonna stick around and see what happens.
Very true. Having had the misfortune of being forced to re-breathe air from newly arrived leftists, I can say this is exactly the mindset. Those who do not share the same hive mentality are looked upon as uneducated vermin, best forced out to the wastelands as soon as possible.
A new wave of social-utopians is just over the horizon, waiting to take their place in the regions more befitting the enlightened masses.
By staying you will continue to pay taxes to the same state government that is humiliating you and treating you like a potential criminal. If you accidentally get tripped up by ever increasing and more complicated gun laws, if convicted of a felony (many of the new laws are felonies) not only do you risk going to prison you also risk losing all of your gun rights in the entire country for life. So even if you move to a free state after you are released you still can't legally own a gun.
I would love to see new investment come from WA and CA in firearms related businesses that manufacture products. These 50/50 communities could use new business investment.
Moral of this story (after reading the comment
NZ years ago, but of course the plaque from CA is fast ruining that place too. When will they officially declare themselves an invasive species?
Hmm... A "contra-refugee" program ?
Of course, to be completely strategic, the prospective refugees would need to be thoroughly vetted before admission. Say...being hooked up to a polygraph on one side and 220 V on the other.
An approved question list could be adopted to weed out infiltrators.
I left for a lot of reasons, firearms was just one. At no point was I ever under any illusion that I would be missed. My house had 3 serious buyers. A retiring doctor from California who wanted it as investment property for his son to live in, a local family with very left leaning ideals (my wife knew them), and a guy that I know wasn't a citizen and was likely illegal. The third ended up being the buyer after squaring his ITIN.
That's just who Oregon wants there. Kate and Washington county would have been happy with any of the three. All they wanted from me was tax revenue to squander and use against me.
By moving I...
-Dramatically lowered my property taxes.
-Moved up in house for the same money.
-Moved up in job and income.
-Eliminated commute time.
-Got better access to outdoor areas.
-Eliminated most state level firearms restrictions.
-Went from being a political minority to majority.
-Got out from under all those damn rain clouds.
Moving isn't for everyone but it worked out for me. Oregon was home for most of my life but the real Oregon that I grew up in is dead and gone.
Liberals are a parasite. They infect by going after the vulnerable in major cities then spread outward.
Once they have consumed the resourses of a state/ or area them move to the next.
Look at the Exodus from CA to Texas. Now it’s even turning liberal.
Liberals are generally kind, decent, open minded, generous people. Progressives, not so much.
But I want to kill a wolf.
So, I am suppose to toss 8+ years of college and years of experience and seniority
on the job, a wonderful home, uproot the kids and start all over just because I don't agree with people all the time?
How about MMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmno.
15 years or so ago that would have been my answer.
Now my wife and I are retired.
We moved solely to get away from the Seattle madness.
We didn't even move out of the state.
Just went to an area where there are farms and ranches and people are actually people.
We are very happy here. Nice people, slower pace of life.
Would I ever consider leaving the state just because some of the folks tick me off?
No. There are too many alternatives to that that don't disrupt our lives and
financial situation to the extremes.
