n true but only to a gun rights voter. Not everyone is a single issue voter like that, and the majority probably never will be. If gun rights refuses to accept and strategize around that then weve already lost. If we want to win gun rights needs to become a bipartisan issue.
When it comes to liberty I am a single issue voter. Do you support more taxation for social programs? if so then you support removing or restricting my rights , do you support more government regulation? If so you support further curtailing those rights.. Interestingly enough that applies to guns as well. It has been my experience those who vote for the other side on the whole support issues which affect me, financially , and from a individual liberty perspective.

So what good does it do if a liberal owns a gun when they still vote for those who would curtail freedom on every level ?

because gun rights is not a partisan issue
It shouldn't be, but it is.

Partisan politics is determined by the parties. Voters latch onto the party that represents their views the best.

As for gun control specifically;
One party has made it a plank in their platform.
One party has made it an "issue" by attempting to (and sometimes succeeding in) denying Constitutional and natural rights.

The other party has reacted by declaring that they will protect our rights from the party of the first part who want to deny our rights by force.

One thing came first. The result was opposition. It's not even as complicated as the chicken-and-egg question.

I dont know what the best strategy is to make the issue bi partisan, but its not hard to see how the more liberals that own AR15s and Glocks etc. the less likely they are to vote for laws affecting their ownership and use.

Even if it 'just' means the gun control part of the opposition loses traction within the party, that's a win.

except that the other party that supports gun rights is not in the lead. In deep blue states like Oregon Ive lost confidence we will ever see a Republican governor or even majority in the state senate. Until that changes, I dont think its a good idea to reject all these new liberal gun owners regardless of who they vote for, we need more of them to buy guns to truly see how their laws affect gun owners.

There in lies the rub , they aren't voting for laws they are for representation of their ideas. That elected representative is voting on issues for their voter base as whole .

Case in point voting for Joe Biden was a vote for gun control . It was a key component of his election platform and publicly announced no less.

yes, imagine what gun rights would be like if all we had to worry about politically was traditional capitalism vs. socialism policies.

same for conservative representatives, but true. But this circles back to what I mentioned earlier, liberal gun owners arent gonna be single issue voters. Politicans wont push laws that upset their constituents... liberals are pretty good at protesting things they dont agree with.... Id say its a good thing they are buying guns.

I only commented on your statement that gun control is nonpartisan.

I've never said we should (or shouldn't) reject new gun owners over politics.

I have said that, at the current moment in time, they're not necessarily trustworthy allies and that their motivations for "arming-up" are based largely on a faulty premise fed to them by their own media and politicians. That being that they need to fear Republicans and MAGA-bros.

Things change... maybe they'll prove me wrong.

Kinda hard to sound off in defense of someone who is publicly saying the exact opposite thing in a vociferous manner.
"Today, we're taking steps to confront not just the gun crisis, but what is actually a public health crisis," Biden announced in a speech at the White House's Rose Garden, claiming: "Nothing, nothing I am about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment."

"No amendment, no amendment to the Constitution is absolute," the president continued. "You can't yell 'fire' in a crowded movie theater — recall a freedom of speech. From the very beginning, you couldn't own any weapon you wanted to own. From the very beginning that the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren't allowed to have weapons."

Several members here say you're wrong. I've not really heard them spout off on this topic recently though. Puzzling.

Ditto , if anyone votes for the left they aren't on my side. Firearms owners who vote for democrats and leftists are clearly voting against their own interests .

I'm an avid shooter and have been since I was a kid. I'm also a big fan of women having a choice over what they do to their bodies and not having one religion forced down my throat as the "correct one." I continue to care for others even after they're born and care for the environment and its preservation. I also feel that prior to purchasing a firearm, a person must go through mandatory in-person training and mental evaluation. Having any old fool legally able to shove an unholstered striker pistol into his pants is asking for trouble... and they might not know any better.. So, I vote based on a multitude of things and not just my hobby. It's not something I enjoy doing, but the right is trying to strip away freedoms too. Perhaps I'm odd for being a centrist but extremist behaviors on both sides are just dividing our country even more. It's too bad that so many aren't willing to hear out those who differ in opinion, but I happen to have close friends on both sides.
