All my opinion with nothing to back it up, but here it is anyway... The idea that a state that is 40% to 50% independents with the political parties within a percent or two of each other declaring it's self to be on "one side" or the other is not realistic. Can anyone actually define each "side"? Last I checked, beliefs run along a bell curve.
Limited political violence... that I can see happening on the extreme ends of the parties where false narratives about the opposing party overwhelm any reason or logic. It would be nice if we could just talk and not vilify people who don't agree with our own position like the left and right media does.
Liberals - have you actually talked to a conservative about their positions?

Try it.
Propaganda will define both sides, some of us have seen it in every war of the last 70 years.

Agreed. I had something about that in my original post but removed it. The simple fact is that once you clearly and accurately define your side/position, you will lose a significant percentage of people. Since that doesn't work, and propaganda does, you end up fighting for something and you don't even know what it really is.
What makes it worse is that almost everyone thinks they can spot false statements/propaganda... but the reality is that most people fall for it. It takes work to learn how to spot it, especially when it's something that "feels" right to you and aligns with your narrative.
I try to live by the saying "Don't believe what you think". Verify claims before repeating them and do that by trying to prove them wrong, because if you set out to prove them right, you always will. Trying to prove them wrong is how you end up with a more accurate view of the world.

That may be what you see, but it's not reality across the board. Tell me this, do you think liberals are communists?
Across the board conservatives have largely been labeled "deplorables". Gaslighting is a well documented strategy from the left where conservatives generally dont start insulting until their freedoms are taken away but then its just name calling not gaslighting.

I do not think liberals are communists but Im aware that socialism leads to more government control.

I wish more people would do this, especially those on the left (because society tends to naturally have a liberal bias). But really, everyone should do this always.

I have seen , heard and read adherents of both sides vilifying each other....
On this forum and in many other places.

One can simply disagree with another person without causing a fuss...
And just 'cause someone thinks differently than you...doesn't make one person right and the other wrong...
It may just be a case of someone thinking differently.

Don't want to get in trouble for talking politics so I will let the question pass. Obviously or maybe not Obviously a civil war will have two sides, good and evil. The winner determines which is which.

We can always count on Andy to be the voice of reason. Thank you.

Interesting conversation. Here's my two cents:

I couldn't care less what someone thinks or says.

If I don't like them, I tend to stay away from them. Live and let live.

But - at this point in time, perverse people are doing perverse things that affect us all.

I don't know what's going to happen, but a day is coming when the baby killers, the warmongers, and the sexual perverts are going to wish to God they had kept to themselves.

As a society, we have been so open-minded it seems our brains have fallen out.

I recall in the miniseries "Jericho" where there was a US civil war and Texas was an independent third nation. Really interesting premise in that mini series with some excellent acting (major dad actor Sol from the movie snatch) and some not so great acting. Kind of a soap opera feel to it which is too bad. They set off nukes in key cities as part of a coup and there was a virus that large corporations controlled the vaccine for. I think it was made in 2003ish.

Small remote town had to reconstruct itself basically after being cut off from outside world after the nukes, all the while not knowing what was going on in the country or why.

Despite the shortcomings all the stuff you might see in a SHTF scenario is there, no communications, food, power. People trying to survive, maintain order etc. flipping intense show as I recall.
I loved this series! I did a rewatch a few months ago, it held up okay, definitely a drama.

On a more serious note. This is how I'd see things shaking out.

Texas forms Gulf alliance with Florida and Gulf States/Southern States.

CA forms Western Alliance with Hawaii, WA, Oregon, Colorado and Nevada. Arizona either gets annexed by CA/Nevada or joins Texas, New Mexico joins CA side.

Great Plains States remain independent, or join Texas.
Illinois joins NY, annexes States South and East of it, becomes western part of "New England /Midwest alliance" that includes all the heavily D States on the NE and Midwestern regions.
I would be sad if those of us in WA let the cucks here take the state in that scenario. Olympia and Seattle would need to be surrounded and cordoned off

Can we launch dead junkies inside the perimeter?
