They found handguns in the center console and under the seat. In the trunk, there was a shotgun and a stolen rifle along with 450 rounds of ammunition.

Sounds a little like a stolen car was used in a burglary (or several). It may get complicated for the owner if they had a gun in the car too.

Yes, I agree the courts will likely blame the owners for the criminals behavior. A case of, well the criminals won't obey.
