Just remember, Nancy Pelosi, just a day or two ago, when asked if banning bump stocks could lead to a slippery slope of more gun control, she responded, enthusiastically with "I sure hope so!!"

Our enemy will not stop with bump stocks. Cave in on this without some deal releasing some other regulation, and we are in a bad way. I only hope the pro-gun folks are using this for strong political gain on our side.

My initial reaction was to be pissed at the NRA, but like some others have said, I have to wonder if this isn't part of some clever political move that may culminate in a give and take type of situation. They have to have R support and Trump's signature to get their ban, and to do that, there may have to be something offered on their side - HPA or national reciprocity, for example. Personally of those two, I'd take the HPA over national reciprocity.

I'll reserve my anger at the NRA until after I see how this plays out. BTW, they called me yesterday, presumably asking for money, I didn't answer the phone. I'm a life member, happy to be one since the NRA is such a huge thorn in the side of the anti's, but the NRA is not without it's failings. I don't support them 100%, but I would never not be a member because they just hold too much sway in protecting our rights in D.C. - no other group comes close - and when the anti's start whining - they only target one pro-gun group - the NRA. If the NRA keeps Pelosi, Clinton, Obama, Bloomberg, Feinstein and others pissed off, then that's worth every penny I've given them. When's the last time you heard someone like Clinton whining about GOA? SAF? OFF? or others? No, they know the power of the NRA to block a lot of what they propose, and for that reason, the get my support. But, if they give in on this without working some deal in our favor, they can plan on not getting another cent from me in the future.

I also would like to see LaPierre go - I think that time is long overdue.

I was thinking the same thing on this. When they get a bill together to do away with the stocks other lawmakers can add stuff to it. This happens all the time. Will have to see what the final bill actually says.
As for will it "do anything", of course not. Anyone with a brain knows none of these laws do anything other than punish the good people. Really does not stop the left at all though. They do a great job of snowing a lot of people with the "we have to do something".
As for the NRA for as long as I have been on the net I have seen a lot of gun owners with rabid hate of them. This is the same gun owners who every election help liberals win. They will not vote for the most conservative person running so they end up helping the liberal win. This is how WA and OR got the Governors they currently have. A lot of these gun owners tried hard to get Hilary elected. Never really have understood that but it's their vote so they get what they vote for. Just can't quite grasp how they scream so loud after they get the government they voted for. <shrug>

I'm not sure about everyone else, but if the NRA supports a ban on Bump Stocks for any other reason than just being open to shutting up the whiny liberals then I will not be renewing my NRA membership this year. The NRA did a pretty horrible job at preventing several unconstitutional measures from being passed in Washington and Oregon, but they did a great job of calling me on the phone and telling me how they need money so they can do this or that for our 2nd Amendment rights.

TOday it is bump stocks, tomorrow it is high cap magazines and after that it will be bipods , scopes , magazines, clips, high caliber rifles and then what is next? After all, the only thing covered by the 2nd Amendment is your upper receiver's right?

If they are going to do anything with Bump Stocks they should consider them a fully automatic accessory and make them Class III. I don't even support that to be honest.

This whole thing about bump stocks is a bullsh*t feel good measure. In my opinion, had this guy been more skilled, he could have probably killed over 100 people with a 30-06 bolt rifle. Nobody even heard the original gun shots and he could have spent his good time taking people out before anyone in the crowd would have even known they were receiving sniper fire. Two or three trained shooters at 400 yards with an elevated positions and bolt guns would have caused much greater catastrophe than what we saw in this last shooting . And, now that it is on the media and we all know how common copy cat killings can be. I always knew that there would come a day where we may have to deal with snipers.. Look at the havoc that one sharpshooter caused at the University of Texas back in 1966. He did not even have one semi automatic rifle and left 17 people dead in an area much less crowded than the concert in Las Vegas. I guarantee the casualties would have been 5 times as many if this guy was perched up at the Mandalay Bay

Hotel. University of Texas tower shooting - Wikipedia

The only real gun banning solution to prevent future sniper attacks would be to ban all guns and have the military and police go door to door and force everyone to give up their guns or be shot dead on the spot. Seriously, is that what we want for America? Hitlary Rotten Cliton I am sure could only dream of such a scenario and would just love to execute such an executive order that would give her ultimate power and indefinitely suspend the 2nd Amendment for reasons of "National Security". That is not the AMerica I want to live in. You know how the government becomes when they start banning items. Once the government assumes control, they tend to go above and beyond. This is why many of the Assault Weapon bans have brought fear to gun owners across America, even ones who don't own so-called "Assault Weapons". Just think about it, every time there is an Assault Weapon ban that is meant to remove AR-15s, AK-47s and other military style rifles from the market, what do they do? They end up proposing not only to ban AR-15s or magazine fed rifles with pistol grips, but then they seek to ban all semi automatic rifles, pistols, 22 rifles and even shotguns. What started out as an "Assault Weapon Ban" now has extended to guns that people don't even think of as "Assault Weapons". This is your fascist government agents at work.

Obviously, in this day and age of being a free society with so much violence, terrorism and threats having outdoor concerts with tens of thousands of people who are trapped in a confine space surrounded by large buildings is a major security threat. I cannot believe they would even host such events considering the world we live in. After what happened in Paris, Manchester, Barcelona, Nice France, etc we can see that gun laws have no effect on mass murders by determined terrorists. These madmen will find ways to achieve their goals. How come after the Nice, France attack which killed more people (86 dead, appx 500 wounded) than the Las Vegas shooting there was no cry to ban box trucks? Box trucks in many cases will prove to be a much more lethal weapon than a rifle , much easier to operate and draws considerably less suspicion.

I don't know about others here, but I am pissed off and fed up with the NRA and many of the Fake Republicans in our Congress who just give lip service to gain votes. I will not be renewing my NRA membership next year and want nothing more to do with an organization that supports the stripping of our 2nd Amendment rights. If these guys would at least come to terms that they are making a concession and apologize to NRA members that would be more palatable. But to collaborate and support the liberals saying that our citizens should be restricted from owning fully automatic weapons is a violation of our 2nd Amendment. Today it is bump stocks. Tomorrow will the NRA also agree that ordinary civilians don't need high capacity magazines? Who knows, but I won't be re-joining the NRA. I will look into GOA or some other more pro-active 2A organization who could use my support.

when i first seen the bump stock i knew it was just a matter of time, and i couldn't believe it was passed under obama's admin. I even wondered if it was allowed to go through so they could let some dumb patsy or just some dumb person commit a crime with one and have a good in to banning "assault" weapons again.
We had this discussion a few weeks ago when we were talking about bianery trigger 's and some one said they are legal for now until someone uses one in a mass shooting then they will ban them and here we are I'm very surprised that the media has not mention them I have heard one guy talk about the HELL FIRE TRIGGER

That's because VERY few who "talk" actually know anything about guns. I listen to several talk shows by conservatives at work when I have time. NONE of them knew anything about Class III and how it worked when this happened. The stuff they were saying was laughable. None of them even knew what a bump stock was at first. That's why the hype works. Most of the public does not either. When some Senators race to a camera while the bodies are still in the street most have no idea they are being lied to.

how do we make a case for deregulating "silencers" when we agree to ban bump stocks? How will banning bump stocks reduce future mass shootings? The LV shooter could have easily done more damage with a dialed in scope, we should ban scopes too... cause, they are not a gun and thus not protected. Nobody "needs" a scope to shoot a gun.

I thought we figured this out with those "things that go up" years ago.

Better forget about those silencers, and the same goes for concealed carry reciprocity too

While I hate bargaining my rights bumpfire stocks for reciprocity seems like a good trade although republicans should of already had reciprocity done.

I'M looking at some of the pictures of his guns and I think he had a suppressor on some of them but they took them off for the photo 's that would be released to the media some of those guns have the quick detach muzzle breaks on them IT WOULD NOT SURPRISE ME IF THAT IS THE CASE

This had 50 high end rifles with thousands of rounds and a pile of high capacity mags bi pods so on and so on and you don't think he had a suppressor or two makes no sense he had the time and money to get a few or make his own this part of the investigation stinks of cover up

The point is I can activate a two stage standard trigger almost as fast. If you have ever fired a Bump Stock you will see you have to get the coordination rhythm down or they do not work very well. There not for me after trying briefly! Evidently he had practiced shooting them a lot. There are other triggers that will probably join the targeted view with the Bump Stock. Like the trigger that when in the third position will fire on the pull and fire on the release. Then there are others modified to excessively increase the rate of fire. I am not for banning an inanimate object. But I foresee they may put restrictions on them like on the class IIIs? OMI The reason in the crazy political environment we live in with the Anti-Gun Socialist Libertards it would take the wind out of their sails! So I will not be surprised if this is what happens!

We "MUST" REMAIN Vigilant and Focused concerning our Second Amendment!
Here is some facts about Australia and their gun ban. A little long but a good reminder for us!
This Article was written after the Australian Citizen Weapon Confiscation.
That is why I adopted the Charleston Heston policy!
I will give up my guns when they pry my cold dead hands from them!;)
Here is the article.
NEWS BRIEF: Letter written to the Orange Country Register (8/04/99), Australia.
"It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed, a program costing the government more than $500 million dollars. And now the results are in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent; Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent). In the state of Victoria, homicides with firearms are up 300 percent. Figures over the previous 25 years show a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms (changed drastically in the past 12months). There has been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly."
Surprise, surprise! How can this kind of result occur when the "superior" intellects of governments worldwide have told us repeatedly that gun ownership and gun availability are the reasons so many shooting deaths occur, and why so much crime occurs. Leftist Liberals shout the same tired slogans, telling Americans night after night after night that we could achieve Paradise on Earth if we would only force everyone to give up their guns. The Liberal Mass Media is also pouring forth the same nightly nonsense.
Of course, once a lie is big enough and repeated often enough, many uninformed citizens of every Western country on earth will begin to believe that at least some truth must be contained within the lie. We repeat the warning we have issued before: Historically, every single Absolute Dictatorship that ever existed has disarmed their people as the very first step of imposing their dictatorship. Dictators hate it when citizens can own guns, because he then cannot be as brutal as he might want to be, afraid he might start an effective armed insurrection.
Even today, with the ferocity of American military arms, the presence of over 100 million guns in this country is an obstacle to the coming New World Order that looms as high as Pikes Peak. This number of guns, and the number of gun owners [estimated at almost 90 million Americans] is overwhelming to the future dictators of the New World Order. Therefore we are witnessing a most intense drive to get Americans pitted against themselves and against each other. Americans that own at least one gun are targeted with propaganda to get them feeling guilty about owning guns. These are the people who turn guns in during an Amnesty campaign. Americans who do not own guns are encouraged to feel badly against those who do own guns. Thus, you have Hollywood Liberals tacking a note to Charleston Heston's mailbox after a shooting saying, "I hope you are happy"!

Sounds like you are forgetting the part about all the missing empty cartridges:eek:

If we are going to be realistic, bump fire stocks did anything but increase this guys body count. He obviously isnt gun smart, which ended up being a "good" thing.
One semi auto, a bipod and and a f-ton of pre loaded mags woulda been far more effective in the position he put himself in

BAnning bump stocks is the smartest thing we can do.

Anyone actually use one for anything other then a novelty?

Appease the anti-gun folk and leave all the other bans they might think up alone and forgotten.

Just my 2¢
Problem is, Joe, once they get that taste of blood in the water...

I say the only way we give up Bumpfire is as a bargaining chip to get more out of them than we give up in return.

Nationwide Carry, HPA, Reopened Registry or similar in return, or Go Drown In A Sewage Tank.

I don't think I understand your reasoning here Joe.

Granted the Bubba Fire is just a plastic POS for simulated whacking. It's not what it is that is important...it is what the banning will represent to the leftist politoscum, and those who don't and won't have a clue. If it is banned, it will become the poster child of all future ban agendas.
"See, even the NRA is giving up now, we are seeing a chink in their armor. Now is the time to go for the full kill, while we have the momentum with us. The Repub's are even afraid to stand up and fight on this anymore".

Sadly, we are losing the Trump momentum with this. Reciprocity and suppressor bills are becoming pipe dreams again. Now we need to be concerned with semi-auto and mag bans again.

The anti-gunners will never be appeased until Andy in Everson's collection is re-classified as destructive devices. With the massive left wing, post election hive mentality that has arisen, the ball is definitely not in our court now. If the left smells blood now, thats it... it will morph into the "gunpocalypse".

Edit... Diamondback ..looks like we had the same thought at the same time :D

This ban may never come to pass as the anti's will take a bill that specifically bans bump stocks and then try add on all types of other restrictions and accessory bans including mags. That will kill support from the NRA and the GOP. Hopefully the argument will go on long enough that the public outcry dies off as it does awhile after every mass shooting. The anti's won't settle for just banning bump stocks and they just may shoot themselves in the foot because of this.
