My latest flashlight purchase. 850 lumen. Pocket carry. Blinding! Under $70, barely. New Fenix PD35 CREE XM L2 U2 LED 850 Lumen Tactical Flashlight EDC CR123A | eBay

5 Brightness Levels Plus Strobe
Turbo - 850 Lumens - 1 hr. 30 min.
High - 450 Lumens - 2 hr. 30 min.
Mid - 170 Lumens - 7 hr. 45 min.
Low - 45 Lumens - 29 hr.
Eco - 10 lumens - 140 hr.

CR123s are common batteries, available at $1 each shipped online all day long.

If you want the king of all flashlights (<$75) - 13800 Lumen - that is 5x brighter than most home theater projectors - this is it my friend - 12, count them again, 12 high intensity T6 LEDs.

For a comparison, the brightest aftermarket Xeon car headlights are about 1300 lumen. So this flashlight is easily 10x brighter than the avg car headlights.

Like a portable Luxor Casino! LOL

18650 batteries, also inexpensive online. Too large for pocket carry, belt carry OK.

Will crush just about any other flashlight on the market this side of $500. Only this cheap because a foreign slave is willing to accept our dollars - yippee!

I have several Trustfires. They are solid units.

Charger for batteries - never need to buy new ones: XTAR WP2 II Li ion Battery Charger 18650 3 7V Latest Version New USA Seller | eBay

Plenty of batteries: 12pcs Efficient 18650 3 7V 4 2V 5000mAh Li ion Long Life Battery Deep Blue | eBay

The question is - are you man enough!? :s0112:

My current Trustfires have THREE T6 leds at 3800 lumen are are extremely bright. These new 9x and 12x T6 models take light to the next level.

If home defense at night is a big deal to you these are pretty much cornea melters. For $115, you are set up with all you need to go make enemies of your neighbors.

They must be good for finding those pink red guys!

Dang you really know how to light em up!

Update:

My lights came in today. They seem to be good quality and I like that you can focus them easily. They are bright as heck for only using one AA battery.

Good move buying an AA powered light, AAs are a lot more common and a lot cheaper than 123 types. I buy the 36 packs at Costco. You can buy lithium storage AAs on line as well

I ordered 2 of the 12x lights Burt recommended, will let y'all know what I think of them

^^^^ It's another plus that Duracell is now guaranteeing their Alkalines for 10 years! We only have two flashlights that don't take standard Alkaline batterys. Both key chain lights.

Along with LED tech, battery tech has made huge leaps forward

For keychain lights and zipper pulls we have Photon 2s.. they use the super cheap CR2032 lithium wafer batteries that power all of our red dot and illuminated scopes. AAAs are hard to find and expensive VS the 2032

My wife was given a stubby barrel shaped 3 LED light that also uses the 2032, but when I went to look for them online they are only sold in 500+ ct promotional batches. Too bad because they make decent close range lights for personal tasks. They are so cool I may take the plunge and include one free with every purchase of my canes/walking staffs from the new biz. @ 500 + they will custom add your website and logo, etc

This isn't a high lumen solution, but it is an absolutely outstanding pocket light, and can be had for $19.99 at Sportsman's Warehouse. The Inova XS...

It has 2 modes, 53 or 6 lumens. The button on the tailcap is momentary on. Hold it down for high output. Tap it once, then hold it down for low output. Twisting the tailcap gets constant on, high output. It has a decent hot spot, and a lot of splash. Throw is modest, easily getting the job done for any residential or normal tasking applications. It runs on one AAA battery.

I used to sell Inova.. hate to say it but the end cap switches fail pretty quickly and I dropped them from my lineup.. our personal Inovas are no longer used, they are in the same box with our old maglights

Inova was acquired by Nite-Ize and the XS is a new offering - while I'm not a big fan of the old Inova line, I did buy the XS to play with.

It's a little small for casual EDC - more along the lines of a keychain light in my opinion. Still, so far it hasn't crapped out yet.

Externally it looks just like our small ones. We only used them for night time backyard pooper scooping but they cr@pped out after a year or less (pun intended)

I had to catch up with the thread - sorry for the delay.

My experience has been the exact opposite of Blitzkrieg's. I have found AAA batteries commonly available and fairly cheap. Although to be fair, I don't have anything that uses the 2032 cell, so I might just be overlooking the batteries.

@SGTNambu: I suggested a AAA keychain light as a consolidation to an all alkaline lineup. You didn't mention what kind of keychain light you have, but permit me to touch on some generic points:
1. AAA batteries tend to be fairly common, making replacing batteries on the fly reasonably easy. I know Blitz and I disagree here.
2. AAA keychain lights tend to be all metal, making them pretty robust and durable. I've had an arc AAA bouncing around on my keychain for six-odd years now.
3. AAA keychain lights come in a variety of performance options, ranging from "really low light for 10+ hours" to "60 lumens for 65 minutes". The Fenix LD01 actually has three modes: really low, functional medium, and 72 lumen high for 88 minutes.
4. AAA keychain lights are a bit longer than the AAA battery, but not tremendously so - depending on the model.

Most walmarts carry them. but for preppers we should be more, well, prepared. If you do use AAAs, keep in mind when the SHTF that abandoned homes may still have things like TV remotes loaded with good batteries

Here be a Quark Tactical that I linked back in this thread, a AAA battery, and a CR2032 powered infrared Photon 2

While we have a few keychain lights (I didnt realize how many) and a reserve of batterys for them, they are more of a convience for us. The brands vary but they are all tubular aluminum and plenty strong. We keep a large assortment of much more serious lights that are a better fit to this Sub-Forum. Thanks for your suggestions!

The Photon 2 fits in the "always there" category, for finding the right key/lock, picking up something you dropped, low light navigation. Some of ours are in colors like amber or red, which do not harm your night vision as much as bright white light. They weigh virtually zero, are waterproof, and have a long battery life
