I am not sure that exemption would apply to those who have a firearm in their carry on bag which is where the firearms are usaully found by TSA. TSA Finds Record-Breaking Number of Guns at Airports in 2018https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2019R1/Downloads/MeasureDocument/SB925/Introduced
SB925
From the Bill:
"Authorizes city, county, metropolitan service district or port operating certain commercial airports to adopt ordinance regulating or prohibiting possession of firearms in public buildings by concealed handgun licensees. Authorizes school district, college or university to adopt policy regulating or prohibiting possession of firearms in public buildings by concealed handgun licensees. Punishes possession of firearm in violation of ordinance or policy by maximum of five years' imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both. Modifies definition of public building, for purposes of crime of possession of weapon in public building, to include certain airport areas, buildings owned or controlled by state or city agency and real property owned by college or university. Punishes violation by maximum of five years' imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both. Exempts from prohibition person possessing firearm in certain airport areas when firearm is unloaded and in locked container for purposes of transporting firearm as checked baggage."
Word MAY is used a bit in the bill for if these places want to enforce.
More numbers, for those that like numbers .
It would be a good angle to go after it based on recent SCOTUS decision but who knows what the courts would consider excessive. The 5 years and/or $125K fine for this proposed law is way beyond cruel and unusual for such a minor infraction - any chance it might be struck down based on that?
This is the problem right here. ...and we collectively let this happen. it is conflict of interest and should be punished. let the people be the judge, not a current appointed one but the people.supermajority owes legislation to billionaires who bought their seat for them...

Y'know.... I've been concealed carrying since about the late 80's and have always carried where the firk I wanted.
I've been in Washington State schools, bars, "gun free" zones (all over), and anywhere there isn't a metal detector and been armed... just because they pass "another law" won't change a thing for me. I'm not the "demographic" they have to (nor ever have had to) worry about, nor will they have a clue about where and what I'm carrying.
#WillNotComply!! (Just like I've always done)
I have grown weary and have given up on Oregon. Wifey and I made a plan to leave my home State of nearly six decades for a more 2A friendly location. Met with a realtor and put the plan in motion. I'm a native Oregonian and I am just sick of our state Government. Leaving behind other family: sibling, kids, grandkids, and cousins. Tough decision but see no other way. Not gonna stick around and wait for our state to turn us into criminals just by the passage of tyrannical laws. Also not going to surrender the couple remaining firearms I have left following that tragic boating accident. This isn't an idle threat like so many celebrities made prior to the election of Donald Trump, it is necessary relocation. F#@&ing Anti-gunners! Rant over. Peace to you all.
Siberia? So where are you going to go? My wife and I are looking, too.
