My understanding is that so long as no signage is posted or you did not sign off on a form informing you that its not allowed to CC on property or informed by the owner of said property its protected under Oregon law. That is of course so long as its not federal/courthouse/casino (without chief permission). At that point its just in violation of a policy and not a law.

So instead of posting said signage or informing folks they instead make a bill to cover that area. Good idea!!

My reference: Frequently Asked Questions | Oregon Concealed Handgun Licensing

Are there places I can't carry my handgun concealed?

Yes. There are several locations in which you cannot carry a firearm, even with a concealed handgun license, including:

  • Any federal facility — federal courthouses, social security offices, secured areas of airports, airplanes.
  • Posted private property where the owner prohibits firearms possession, and others.
  • Many private businesses have conditions regarding the possession of firearms on their premises. If you violate these conditions you could, under certain circumstances, be subject to arrest under Oregon trespass laws, in which case, if convicted, your concealed handgun license would be seized and/or revoked.
  • National parks marked or posted with signs prohibiting all firearms.
  • Indian reservations or property — you may not carry a firearm concealed without the written permission of the tribal judge; this may also apply to certain casinos on tribal lands.
  • Courts — in a courtroom, jury room, judge's chambers, or adjacent areas that the presiding judge determines should be free of firearms to ensure the safety of litigants, court personnel, witnesses, and others.
PLEASE NOTE: If you plan to carry your handgun, it is important to research the requirements at these locations before you go. Please see the Oregon Revised Statutes for any updated State of Oregon restrictions. If in doubt, contact the facility you plan to visit directly to obtain their policy.

I will give you a free tip on the criminal trespass: If you are verbally warned to leave the property and DO NOT LEAVE it is then criminal trespass. IF you leave after being warned (peacefully) they cannot hit you with criminal trespass. But if you aren't warned, no signage and did NOT sign any paperwork going over firearms. You are safe in a grey area.

There is that magic number again $125,000.00 divided by 20 and you get $6,250.00
Going to the kitchen to get more foil for my hat... o_O

I think I've cracked it.

California general code 6250:

6250.

"In enacting this chapter, the Legislature, mindful of the right of individuals to privacy, finds and declares that access to information concerning the conduct of the people's business is a fundamental and necessary right of every person in this state."

Translation "mind your business"

Which is the secret phrase that let's you in the door of the secret club.

6250$ is also the price of admission to the society for gun trafficking that Leland Yee belonged to. The idea being after they take away the guns they then sell them back at an inflated rate on the black market and get rich.

It's also how much I'm selling my bridge for... It's a nice bridge, overlooks the Columbia, nicely constructed. :D

SB925
From the Bill:

"Authorizes city, county, metropolitan service district or port operating certain commercial airports to adopt ordinance regulating or prohibiting possession of firearms in public buildings by concealed handgun licensees. Authorizes school district, college or university to adopt policy regulating or prohibiting possession of firearms in public buildings by concealed handgun licensees. Punishes possession of firearm in violation of ordinance or policy by maximum of five years' imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both. Modifies definition of public building, for purposes of crime of possession of weapon in public building, to include certain airport areas, buildings owned or controlled by state or city agency and real property owned by college or university. Punishes violation by maximum of five years' imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both. Exempts from prohibition person possessing firearm in certain airport areas when firearm is unloaded and in locked container for purposes of transporting firearm as checked baggage."

Word MAY is used a bit in the bill for if these places want to enforce.
I am not sure that exemption would apply to those who have a firearm in their carry on bag which is where the firearms are usaully found by TSA. TSA Finds Record-Breaking Number of Guns at Airports in 2018

More numbers, for those that like numbers . . .

Rough count of students killed in school shootings from 1998 to today - 260

I say "rough count" because it includes incidents like this one
A fight began in the school parking lot outside a basketball game, and the school went into lockdown after shots were fired. A 32-year-old male was transported by private vehicle to Nazareth Hospital with two gunshot wounds in his leg. He was transferred by helicopter to another hospital, but died from his injuries. Police announced that they are searching for an adult male suspect

Numbers from here

I picked the date range 1998 to today because FLA keeps pretty good records going back to 1998 on suicide, and in that date range I found 346 suicides in the age range of 0 to 21 years old. But here's the thing. Those 346 children that committed suicide all lived in Broward County FLA

So yes, there is definitely a problem in this country, and for the life of me I can't figure out why they are going after the wrong one. :(

Y'know.... I've been concealed carrying since about the late 80's and have always carried where the firk I wanted.

I've been in Washington State schools, bars, "gun free" zones (all over), and anywhere there isn't a metal detector and been armed... just because they pass "another law" won't change a thing for me. I'm not the "demographic" they have to (nor ever have had to) worry about, nor will they have a clue about where and what I'm carrying.

#WillNotComply!! (Just like I've always done)

I have grown weary and have given up on Oregon. :( Wifey and I made a plan to leave my home State of nearly six decades for a more 2A friendly location. Met with a realtor and put the plan in motion. I'm a native Oregonian and I am just sick of our state Government. Leaving behind other family: sibling, kids, grandkids, and cousins. Tough decision but see no other way. Not gonna stick around and wait for our state to turn us into criminals just by the passage of tyrannical laws. Also not going to surrender the couple remaining firearms I have left following that tragic boating accident. This isn't an idle threat like so many celebrities made prior to the election of Donald Trump, it is necessary relocation. F#@&ing Anti-gunners! Rant over. Peace to you all.

The 5 years and/or $125K fine for this proposed law is way beyond cruel and unusual for such a minor infraction - any chance it might be struck down based on that?
It would be a good angle to go after it based on recent SCOTUS decision but who knows what the courts would consider excessive.

But there is still any amount of jail time to contend with and the class c felony which means you just lost your CHL and your right to own firearms?

I doubt any relief is going to come from courts on this one. We can only hope to influence enough legislators to vote it down or better yet never bring it up for a vote.

You sir, are a demographic of one.

Folks---I left CA in 93 to come up here because CA is just a bunch of freaky bleeding heart lefties. Here is what finally made me move:
Remember the first big assault weapon registration that made you a felon if you didn't register? Well I had a big collection including HK 94s, colts etc. The DOJ assured us the info would go nowhere but their files. I, like an idiot, registered mine. Later I found out that only a tiny fraction of owners ever registered.

So a few months later the Santa Cruz police knocked on my door and wanted to see my guns. I said "What guns?" They had a list. I asked if this was a search warrant situation and they said no. I said: "I respect the police and this isn't personal but go straight to hell and never come back'. I wanted to see what would happen and hoped they would arrest me so I could make the whole thing public.

They were actually not offended, smiled, and wished me a good day. Never saw any police again over it. I came up here. Unfortunately, many dumbocrat Californians followed but brought their liberal idiocy with them and now we are going to hell in a handbasket.

So where are you going to go? My wife and I are looking, too.
