all on an RL550B. just a plug for Dillon too...I haven't loaded for quite some time and my press and other equipment had been stored in the attic since '92. I got it down and it was stiff so I sent it back to Dillon. they sent me back what looked like a new press with new attachments and even paid the shipping back to me. that is what I call service...

Not so often lately as my shooting isn't as often, but I'm set up for '06, 308, 223, 30 carbine, 300WM, 7.7 Arisaka, 9mm, 357, and 45ACP. Need to get some 8x57 dies. Single stage user, I'm still using the RCBS JR and Rock Chucker I bought when I first started back before the weird hammerite paint! I run batches at each step of 50 to 200 until I've got loaded ammo as I can limit errors, although I'd like to get a progressive eventually. I'm not a high-volume shooter.

.44 SPL, .45 LC, .455 Webley, and .38/.357 are all in production right now, all cast from my own alloy. I've got additional dies in .380 Auto, 9mm, .41 Mag, .44 Mag, ,45 ACP, 7mm Mauser, 8mm Mauser, .30 M1 Carbine, .30'06.
I'm sure I've missed a caliber or two...

Happy Shootin'! -Tom

Thanks Joey !
Sweetbeard, I bought components in bulk 4-5 years ago when I bought the rifle, but current prices probably put it around $1.10-$1.40 per round ? The only thing I buy every now and again is powder. Rem. brass, Federal match magnum primers, Sierra 200gr SBT, Hornady 150gr SST, Retumbo, RL-25, and H1000 are the components I use. Do you load for the .300 RUM ? What components do you use ?

How do you like shooting it?
I still want one but I think it might be a bit much.. I already have one ammo whore ... THX

I think that is about it, Its a passion not an obsession (just like Primos Calls) and a heck of a pastime.

so to the 45/70 reloaders lets try this thread and compare our sweets.I have only played with my marlin xlr for a couple of years and have even gone to the point of pulling the hornady flex tips before they were avalible for reloading but could not find a lot better consitancy from the round.I played with 3031and 4198 but could never get a great dial even for a big bore classic calliber any help would be gladly accepted.

Loading or reloading is all a matter of prospective. I seem to facilitate putting components together in/or on/ or with the Dillon’s on the bench. I've loaded 223,308,
7mm08, and most pistols calibers except 7.62x25, 25acp, and 41 Mag.
Always trying to do the very best runs into practicing many many times. I think I have a fair set of recipies for 223, 45ACP and most I load. I have had very few who did not like shooting my loads. Good Luck all with the reloading.

i reload for the 243 , 257 weatherby , 762x54r,30/40 krag, 30/06, 45 acp .. and waitin for my 40 sw dies ...
need 9mm mak, 762x25, 762x39, 12ga, 16ga ,20 ga .. all future purchases ..Don

.44 spec and mag, I choose the easy/lazy? way around gas checks and just use copper jacketed bullets for the magnum loads

30-30 and 30 remington (old round not the new one) can use 30-30 dies w a size 19 lee shell holder. This is the round that got me started into reloading because the old 30 remington hasn't (to the best of my knowlege) been manufactured since the 90's and even then is was supposedly a limited production.

.45 ACP

My plan is to set up for reloading for each caliber as I get the respective gun. Recently got an SKS so looking to get 7.62 X 39 set up. I have given some thought to the possibility of reloading steel cases. I know that most consider them no reloadable but some have said that once or twice might work and that the cases being brittle is the problem, so a couple of ideas to throw out for discussion (or flame throwing)

a.) resize, inspect under magnifying glass and spray paint (mist) the cases red then do not reload red cases (past the initial reload)

b.) load a couple hundred cases on a cookie sheet (TO BE DONE WHEN THE WIFE IS GONE UNLESS SHE REALLY LOVES YOU) run the oven up to about 250 for about 20 - 30 minutes, use oven mitts (or maybe those ov-gloves for dexterity), open the door and decap/resize directly out of the oven, let them cool before finishing the reload process.

I am currently rounding up brass cases for 7.62 X 39 so I will be doing brass but can't help thinking about the waste of all those cheap steel cases.

Might double check to see if they even really need resizing. They're not known for expanding and sealing the chamber very well, so its possible they'll still hold the bullet snugly and chamber again if reprimed and charged with powder and projo. As a last-ditch technique, anyway. Besides, it is probably hard on dies to resize steel.
