Ukraine may turn into a Chechnya 2.0. Funny how history seems to be repeating itself. I hope the Ukrainians have the same or greater will to fight as the Chechens did.

Didn't read the while thread so in case it wasn't already mentioned: "Beating Goliath, Why Insufencies Win" is a good read analyzing how insurgents have beaten stronger foes.

Unfortunately it's easier for such movements to defeat democracies than totalitarian regimes. Author makes some good points.

I dont understand OP's comments about it being too late for Ukraine. The war material is being delivered and abandoned by Russians all over the place. The average Ukranian now has access to weaponry capable of defeating armor etc.

No shortage of rifles, ammo, mines etc. In terms of training, sure they're way behind. But insurgents unless funded and organized externally are reactive not proactive. You typically don't have strong insurgencies before you're invaded, that's called civil war or terrorism. Insurgencies gain popular support after the critical event which justifies their existence. It might take months or years for Ukranian insurgencies to develop capabilities of throwing out Russia but with their military still intact and support from the west they don't have to be the only resistance force... yet.

Ostensibly, the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006 was supposed to prevent that from ever occurring again, but I doubt that in today's climate, it would carry any force, given the goon squad stinkin' up the White House...

Good question. I would guess they have good security in, around and above the convoy.
