I flew out of Oregon a few weeks ago and am heading back home today....What's the outlook for 114?....Pass or Fail?

I am flying back in specifically in time to vote...

A recent poll put out by Nelson Research — a public opinion research firm based in Salem — asked 577 likely Oregon voters their thoughts on Measure 114.
About 46.1% of them said they support the measure with 49.4% opposing it. Meanwhile 4.5% of people were still undecided — with a margin of error of 4.1%.

Get out and vote, it matters. It looks like it's a toss up which way voting will go on this ballot measure.

Nice.

We're waiting until Tuesday.

ETA Just saw this a minute ago

Lane County will livestream its mail-in ballot processing during the Nov. 8 general election as a way to increase transparency and educate the public on ballot processing, according to county election officials.
The livestream has been active since Oct. 31 on the county's election YouTube page: youtube.com/@Lane_County_OR_Elections. You can also scroll through the recording history.

It's gonna be close. Last info I saw suggests 114 will NOT pass.

But it's hard to say at this point.
Here's a quote from the last paragraph of the article…

"Nowhere in 114 is anyone said that we're coming after your Second Amendment right," said Reverend Dr. Matt Hennessee of the Interfaith Peace and Action Collaborative. "It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with people being responsible about the guns that they have, and not using them against each other."

"Rev. Dr." Hennessy thinks everyone is an idiot because not OUTRIGHT saying you're "coming after 2A rights" yet setting up virtually unobtainable obstacles and banning commonly used 2A items used for lawful purposes is like saying the alter boy wasn't "molested", he was merely "probed".

Secondly….

How could anyone with any modicum of intelligence think this ballot measure would magically COMPEL responsible and competent use of the guns they're "allowed" to own and not, "using them against each other"?

He's not dumb enough to believe the sheite coming out of his mouth, he knows what he's doing. What a den of vipers, they'll pay for their actions…. if not in this life, surely in the next one to come (with accrued interest).

When filling out my ballot I was going through the booklet. Did anyone notice the huge disparity in the numbers between pro 114 and against? Where were sources coming from? The majority of comments were blaming the gun for human actions.

If 114 "passes" I have no doubt the results will be public by 8:05 pm. Meanwhile, the governor's race will take days.

"Nowhere in 114 is anyone said that we're coming after your Second Amendment right," said Reverend Dr. Matt Hennessee

The entire measure says they are coming after our Second Amendment Rights.

EVERY BIT OF IT.

I am very cynical for a number of reasons when it comes to our elections. 30+ years of democrats winning every election after mail in ballots started is my biggest reason. Second, 30+ years and we have never had a trusted outside source inspect our elections.

I still vote because I do trust Linn country elections board in the counting but it's really easy with mail in ballots to cheat. Tuesday, whichever way the election goes it will be up to government and media to sell it to us that it was a fair election. It's going to take a lot of selling if we lose on 114.

A trusted outside audit of Oregons elections is the only proof they are fair and honest, transparency.

Hopefully after a red wave, people who think differently may question mail in voting. For the few seniors and shut in people it's fine, but if it's as important as we say, we should stand in line and cast a single traceable vote like most places did.

I still don't get how gun and ammo companies hide behind the NRA and don't get out in front of their industry.

And produce positive identification to be able to cast that ballot…

I have to provide identification when I take my minor daughter to the doctor…. Why is identification not needed to cast a ballot, seems like it's a kinda important function…

With mail in ballots there is no proof the ballots are from real voters, Portland could print up as many as they need to win any election. Without transparency it's easy to cheat. Even New York elects Repubs at times yet Oregon has 30+ years of one party rule. Hard to believe it's a fair election but then I am cynical.

Being a newish resident of OR (Grants Pass) which OR gun rights org would be expected to take on the legal challenge for this should this pass? I'm looking to support them financially or any other way I can. I fully expect this to get challenged. Seems like a clear violation especially under the new SCOTUS Bruen test. I still give most of my donations to CA orgs cause they've been and still are on the front lines for most stupidity.

Nice article from a fudd.
This guy isn't even a Fudd.

He is one of these 'new hunters' - one that sees hunting as a 'sophisticated' sport where he can show off his Nosler rifles in the back of his Beemer in his khaki pants wearing his cap with crossed golf clubs.

I have encountered many of these over the years. They typically did not grow up hunting (or even experiencing the outdoors when younger) but they see hunting as a trendy, uppity undertaking they join in with their urbanite, social club buddies.

Like others, guns have always had a place in my life.
Yes, and I can tell him a good 'place' where to store them as well.....

I was on a flight from PDX-DFW a few years ago sitting next to a young man who owned several ARs and an M1A and then I found out he was in favor of an AWB ("anything to protect kids") and things got real awkward the rest of the flight.

A lot of these pro-114 gun owners are just showing off for their progressive buddies. They are too stupid to figure out their progressive buddies will never let them kick the football.

Honestly, if folks won't vote out this antigun bunch after the way they handled covid then we are done for. It means even the short term memories are burnt out. Hopefully today even the democrats see we need a change and really there is no reason not to change because over the last 30+ years of democrat rule the dems got most everything they wanted.
