The bastard shot and killed an innocent man, and it's justified?
This is justice now huh.
Justice is what the victim did. The cops actions were murder.

AYKM? Please read the article. Despite his heroic, selfless actions, there is no way the hero should have picked up the perp's gun. Read up about active shooter response. Once the shooting starts, warnings are off the table. It is extremely tragic that he was killed, but the evidence indicates that it was accidental - mistaken identity if you will.

Rule #1...don't have a gun in your hands when the cops show up on an active shooter call and expect quarter, anything else is stupid and as shown here a potential death sentence. It is not the cops fault.

Sorry, but the notion that cops are supposed to be all knowing mind readers in the middle of an active shooter situation is BS. And I don't even have words to articulate how insane it is to expect or demand that a cop issue a verbal command to "drop your gun" in the actual middle of an active shooter event. You do NOT give up whatever small tactical advantage you might have. Because you could easily end up dead.

This is 100% on the citizen. It's a crappy situation. He's a hero for doing what he did and kudos to him for putting his life on the line and inserting himself in this. But if you're going to involve yourself, you MUST get all guns out of your hands when the cops roll in. Get your gun holstered! And if you need to control the shooter's weapon, kick it away and stand on it if you have to. But do NOT be holding the damn thing when the cops arrive.

This is one of the first things you learn in any firearms class. To the cops and any other CCW holder, you're going to look an awful lot like a bad guy with the gun.
