Question regarding 114.....if it goes to litigation, is the measure on hold until a decision is made, or does 114 go in to effect, and then gets suspended at some point? How does this work? Also, the new "permits" are for buying and selling guns only? Or do we need to keep our toys in the house and not use them at the public ranges until we have these "permits"?

Only an issue if they cross reference your prawnhub activity.

Do you really think that govt agencies don't already have that info
In other words, "we" (and or this website) are the database.

Kind of like in one of those Terminator movies, where Skynet turned out to be everywhere, not just in one location. Spoiler alert.

Now that they're running with a paper system, will we have paper permits like drivers licenses back in the day? Because absolutely no one borrowed a drivers license to buy beer!

I assume that eventually the State will, like with hunting licenses and tags, encourage permit holders to download electronically to their phone. Not for tracking purposes or anything, of course.

There is no solution. You might have some temporary redress in the courts but your fellow Oregonians are on a roll and they have every intention of rolling over you. It just started. GTFO.
My only push back on this is that you are talking about this like M114 passed with 65% or more of the vote. It didn't. It passed by a mere 5000 votes! Barely over 50%. If M114 passed in a landslide, I would agree with you about it being a lost cause. But I don't think all hope is lost just yet.

From the story... What a bunch of Tyrants. I hope the Harney judge Raschio gives them the finger by providing good cause.

"The attorney general's petition asks the state Supreme Court to issue what's called a "peremptory writ of mandamus," directing the Harney County Circuit Court to vacate the temporary restraining order. If not, the state Supreme Court should put an immediate hold on that order and direct the Harney County judge to either vacate the temporary order or show why there's cause not to do so, the attorney general urged."

He's not wrong. A victory against 114 will only provide a temporary reprieve.
Not if 114 is a violation of the Constitution. That will be permanently disallowed. As will state attempts similar to what other states have tried with carry bans, may issue permits, sensitive locations, etc. It's just a matter of knocking them down one at a time until we find the line for the Supreme Court.

FOX NEWS!
Proponents of the measure say it would reduce suicides — which account for 82% of gun deaths in the state — mass shootings and other gun violence.

Opponents, including the left-wing Socialist Rifle Association, say it would infringe on constitutionally protected rights and could reduce gun access among marginalized communities and people of color if law enforcement agencies are the arbiters of the permitting process. They also say permitting fees and the cost of the firearms course could also be barriers to access.
So many gun suicides are done with the 11th, 13th, and 17th shots.....

Obligatory JMHO, but the flip side of that is "Oh, heck no! There aren't going be any staggering delays or financial burdens placed on anyone" and the only way for that to be true is the required 'training' and permit process is so watered down that it really isn't anything at which point the supporters will come back and say that because the Well Intentioned sic 114 didn't help as much as they thought it would we need to do more.
They will always come back for more, been happening since 1934…

No one appears to be able to answer this....If this goes in to effect on Thursday, does this mean I cant go shoot my privately owned guns at the local public indoor shooting range until I get this stupid permit? Like, the range has to ask for the permit to allow you to shoot your own guns? Or is the permit just for buying and selling? This is the exact reeaosn this schit needs to be put on hold, everyone, including law enforcement, is just winging this schit....it simply shouldnt go in to effect (at all preferably) until the government has systems in place to create and enforce these BS permits....

I don't have the time or the energy right now to explain all the reasons I hate Ayn Rand but one thing she got right in The Fountainhead (maybe the only thing?) is "the good guys" having won a small battle going off to celebrate while "the forces of evil" regroup, examine what when wrong and start all over again having learned from their defeat at which point the good guys put on their best Shocked Pikachu Face and run around wondering WHTF is going on.
