Unfortunately, that seems to be a common sentiment. A friend of mine used to chair the local FoNRA committee. Due mainly to things going on at the regional/national level, he no longer is the chair, no longer is an NRA member, and no longer belongs to the local gun club because they require NRA membership. Personally, I haven't given a dime to the actual NRA in many years but do still support the local FoNRA banquets when they have them.NRA seems to have changed a bit in the
past 10 years--and not for the better.
I'm also an NRA Life Member and right there with you buddy.Life member here---and former direct and indirect supporter. Now my
donation money goes to SAF, GOA, etc. Personal opinion is that there
is rot at the top of the NRA, and until LaPierre and his cronies get the
boot I will continue to withhold support. Just me--YMMV.
That's why I mentioned that the members should hand him his azz, forcefully if necessary.I'm also an NRA Life Member and right there with you buddy.
I once had similar sentiments as @Caveman Jim and am largely in agreement with his comments above. But, I now feel like LaPierre has gotten more than a little too comfortable at the trough. Like too many of this country's politicians, he has outlasted his usefulness and is a poster child for term limits. The NRA President position turns over frequently, but not La Pierre's position.
