Again it boils down to whether people are free to make their own decisions or not.

Every law ever made in the history of mankind has imposed what someone wants for themselves on others. The voters of Portland will at some time in the near future vote on whether to adjust levels of fluoride in their water to optimal levels, I don't live in Portland so this would not affect me but I fully support adjusting fluoride levels. Hopefully the area where I live does not have naturally occurring fluoridation in the water that exceeds the optimal levels for health and safety.

According to the location you indicate on your account you live in an area where the fluoride levels have been adjusted to optimal health levels for quite some time, what negative impact has this had on you or any of your family or friends or anyone you know as a result? One of the nice things about this subject is the years upon years of factual evidence and support for this cause as nearly 2/3 of the country has their fluoride levels adjusted with only positive results in scientific studies.

I grew up in metro Detroit, which of all places had fluoride in the water. My teeth were awesome the last time my Michigan dentist checked them in 2008.

I now have two cavities. Granted, I don't have my mother coming over to visit and backhand me when there isn't some veggies in the fridge like she used to.... But the water here is terrible anyways. Even treated water feels hard, and leaves a nasty residue on things (including me). I even had to switch my body wash because it wouldn't rinse well.

If any of you going on about how "bad fluoride is for you" ever buy groceries at the store... Consider how many chemicals they toss in those. Preservatives being the number one....
Fast food?
Soda?
Look at your tooth paste. It probably has 20x the fluoride that the water will.

If you are so against technology and change, go find an Amish community to live in.

So within 4yrs without fluoridated water your teeth are going south, if you use a fluoride toothpaste it will be of more benefit than fluoridated water. Ingesting fluoride is of no benefit to your teeth and maybe harmful to internal organs.
This is the controversy, I hope you figure it out.

Fluoride has been around a long time. Nobody has found any conclusions that it will harm you yet. Very likely the reason that you used the word "maybe".

The big difference is that I brush twice a day. The beneficial treatment from doing so is washed away fairly quickly. I drink water all day long. I don't mind extra protection.

Fluoride is only effective when used as a mouthwash. The idea is to coat the teeth with Fluoride. Your dentist used to make you rinse with a Fluoride solution at the end of your office visits. Drinking it doesn't do anything for your teeth except when the water manages to get on your teeth as you swallow. One of the problems (questions, really) is dosages. How much Fluoride taken internally may or may not cause harm to people's internal systems. (Digestive, renal, liver, etc.) Putting Fluoride into drinking water is an uncontrolled delivery system. Babies who are bottle fed using tap water for formula may get a whole lot of Fluoride. People on high intake liquid diets would also ingest a whole lot of Fluoride. Others who rarely drink water would most likely get little or no Fluoride for their teeth.

Fluoridation for teeth is a great idea that works, but rather than put it into drinking water, the government should make a Fluoride rinse available at no cost or very inexpensively for anybody that wishes it. In the long run it might cost a heck of a lot less, be more effective as a tooth decay preventative, and make more sense to do it that way rather than sticking Fluoride into the public water supply.

I don't see fluoride in water as "Forced".
We all know its in there and are free to filter/detox it out without government tracking the filter or NIC background check.

Some prefer fluoride in their tap water but live in city that have no fluoride in their tab water. Were they forced to not to have fluoride?

It's there (or not there) as result of votes. As result of vote, the minorities gets to either filter them out or ask their dentist for fluoride. Minor inconvenience, but nowhere near "infringement on freedom"

That statement did make me think and wonder since many people around me recently just had baby.
Did a quick calculation using Average US newborn baby weight, Avgerage US baby Feeding amount, High estimate on city flouride contain per WHO,...etc.

Roughly 25 bottle bottle between urination to give the new born upset belly and 500 bottle for the flouride to reach lethal dosage for the newborn.

It's poison. By your logic I should be allowed to smoke indoors and if you choose to opt out from the benefits of my second hand smoke you can wear a mask. It's not an infringement in your freedom.

Yes, but I choose to smoke or drink alcohol , I cannot choose to drink water or cook with it. I am very surprised to see that people on a forum like this, are so open to the rights of all folk, to be taken away. Fluoride belongs on the surface of your teeth, not in your body. Oral health is so much more important than most people consider. Bone mass in your cranium is critical to longer life spans.
