I bought a Benchmade fixed blade hunting knife and gave to my wife as a gift 10-15 years ago (shown on right). We used it along with a high quality Scandinavian hunting knife when skinning a spike I shot one year. I really liked the thinness of the blade compared to my Scandinavian hunter. It held a good edge and just seemed to be handy enough that I used it for much of the butchering. Shortly after that I bought one for myself at a gun show (shown on left). Since then we've used the pair for 90% of our hunting, skinning and butchering. To me they are the 30-06s of knives.

I really like the axis lock so far. seems very strong but very easy to manipulate. the blade seems very fine on this model. it's a hunting blade and I'm surprised how thin and light it is. havent gotten to test it on much yet but it goes through paracord like butter.
