Yeah, I've never been that low myself, but that stuck in my head as probably the most intense thing I had ever heard.

If you think that's dark, you should listen to Mozart's Requiem Mass. There is a strange beauty to it. So much so that Beethoven, Brahms, and Chopin, among others, requested it for their own funerals.

You can read most anything you want into lyrics. The Beatles wrote some of the most nonsensesical lyrics ever. The Walrus...Sgt Peppers..on and on. The Doors produced some amazing lyrics right after being bombed on acid. You can find interpretations of every song writers meanings posted everywhere, but really unless you get it straight from the artist you can draw anything into it.

Take Cream's White Room :

In the white room with black curtains near the station
Blackroof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes
Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment
I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines

Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves
You said no strings could secure you at the station
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows
I walked into such a sad time at the station
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning
I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back

Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves
At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes
She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings
I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd;

Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves

Jack Bruce was the finest bass player to have ever played, and his creativity was genius.

Most songs have the lyrics written, and they match it up with music later, or vice versa, where somebody has some good runs and puts it all together. Some stuff lays dormant for years until it all comes together.

Too funny, I always read into them what I thought I heard and most times I was wrong but it sure made people laugh their asses off when i was singing along though!!!:s0112::s0112::s0112:

The funny thing is that John Lennon would always reply "the lyrics don't mean anything" when questioned. And Bono of U2 says he prefers for people to make up their own meanings.

As far as nonsensical lyric's go, Led Zeppelin's "If there's a bustle in your hedge row" line always cracks me up.

I once read a funny interpretation of that. The theory was that whole line was to help girls in the transition to becoming women.

The "bustle in the hedgerow" is just a "springclean for the mayqueen". Get it?

Trent Reznor said he wrote it, but Johnny Cash 'owned' it.

background on the video
The story behind Johnny Cash's 'Hurt', still the saddest music video of all time

This video, chair and piano are the last things you see in the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville. I stood there and watched it about 5 times back in February. Spellbound to say the least. For a music guy who appreciates all kinds of good music, plays some reasonably well, that whole trip was pretty emotional. But the Johnny Cash thing was haunting.

A few of my favorites..........

About forty-five minutes southeast of Thibodaux, Louisiana,
Lived a man called Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hannah,
Well, they raised up a son that could eat up his weight in groceries........

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The way that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life

Just cause you don't understand what's going on
...don't mean it don't make no sense
And just cause you don't like it,
...don't mean it ain't no good
And let me tell you something
Before you go taking a walk in my world,
...you better take a look at the real world
Cause this ain't no Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
Can you say "feel like bubblegum?"
Yea maybe sometimes I do feel like bubblegum
I ain't happy about it, but I'd rather feel like bubblegum
...than be full of bubblegum!
And if I offended you, Oh I'm sorry
But, maybe you needed to be offended
But here's my apology and one more thing...bubblegum you!

You can't bring me down-Suicidal Tendencies

I was born on the cemetery
Under the sign of the moon
Raised from my grave by the dead
I was made a mercenary
In the legions of hell
Now I'm king of pain, I'm insane

Okay this is longer than a line, but one of the funniest songs I've ever heard.
Charlie Daniels uneasy rider 88

I said Jim don't do it there's something missing
There's fellers dancing and fellers kissing
There's a feller in high heeled shoes wearing panty hose
He said partner I just can't turn this down
You just go over there and have one more round
And I'll dance with the lady
And we'll get on down the road

So he walked away and left me alone
But this funny looking feller kept coming on
And he was making me mad with some of the things he said
Then he put his hand on my knee
I said if you don't get your paw off me
I'm gonna locate your nose around
The other side of your head

He said I love it when you get that fire in your eye
I said well partner try this on for size
And I unloaded on him and he went out like a light
Everybody in that place must have been his friend
They all headed for me I said this is the end
But where I come from we don't give up
Without a fight

They were screaming and yelling and scratching and clawing
I was punching and hitting and kicking and pawing
I was holding my own 'cause I've been in a scrap or two

I do like the song "Kung Fu Fighting" as well for nostalgia sake

Also like Paper Lace "The night chicago died"
