The song Les Morts Dansant by Magnum is about a British soldier facing a firing squad for cowardice.

Patty Smyth (of Scandal fame) did a decent cover that was titled "Call to Heaven".

I like both versions a lot. My favorite is a live version of Magnum, but it is only available through a pay site.
